Keith and Lance had been arguing for hours at this point. Sure, they bickered and they competed, but never had they fought quite like this. The others, namely Shiro and Hunk, had tried to stop the argument, get the two away from each other for a while, but it was no use.
Lance kept going on and on about how his family must miss him, how he didnt ask to be brought into space to fight. And yes, Keith understood that. He didn't blame Lance for feeling that way, but he couldn't just put the whole universe at risk because of it!
Lance knew the moment it came out of his mouth, he should have never said it. Never thought it. "At least I have a family!" He'd yelled, tired and upset and not really thinking. But the moment he'd said it, he'd regretted it. The hurt look that flashed over Keiths face, and then the angry, tearful rebuttal Keith had muttered as he stormed off, Lance knew he'd fucked up.
