"Oh my. What just happened to her?" a voice said.
"Didn't you notice? Someone knocked her into the lake and some water might've gone into her lungs. You're sort of the medicine guy here, so I just wanted to make sure she's fine." another one said. They sounded familiar.. but I couldn't quite make out who they were."Alright, I've got a plan. I'll do CPR and try to get the water out. You just hold her hand and stay calm. It'll be good in the end, I promise."
"Her eyes are opening! I think-" My eyes suddenly jerked open as water came out of my mouth. I was in Noah's house, I could still remember what it looked like. He handed me a towel to wipe everything off my face."Arnold? Noah? What happened? Are Gwen, Kevin and the others-" I was cut off, looking directly at an arrow that was stuck in my gut. I gasped and closed my eyes. No, this is not happening. Arnold was holding my hand. I laid my head back on the pillow, feeling one heck of a headache in my head.
"You're alive?" one of the voices said, half in shock and half surprised in a good way. It was Arnold.
"Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?" I shrugged.
"Well, let's see. You- I don't know.. drowned in the lake and were out cold for a few hours?!" Noah said."Say what? I've missed a few hours?" A few hours of not being anywhere close to WonderTopia. A lot could've happened. I can't even imagine what I missed. Did they start a war, blow up the nation again? I don't know.
"Yeah. Remember during the execution, everyone started attacking you. Turns out someone sent you flying right into the lake. Whoever they were obviously knew you wouldn't be able to swim up, given your armour and you just took an arrow to the gut and you hit your head on a rock or something. Speaking of which.. the arrow's still there.""No wonder my head's absolutely pounding." I felt around for my beanie to find a bandage around my head. "You were saying something about an arrow, right?"
"Yeah, we'll have to get that out. Just stay still and don't panic. Oh, and don't make any sound, we're not trying to get the entire group here." Arnold grabbed my hand, while I turned as red as a tomato. I took a deep breath, knowing this was gonna hurt. "Okay, here goes. Three.. two.. one!" He pulled the arrow out. I held in a groan and tightened the grip I had on Arnold's hand."Could you get the health and regeneration potions? I'll have to dress the wound." I realised what Noah had just said. Regeneration worked wonders on wounds but was also quite painful, and I am everything but pain tolerant.
"Are you serious?"
"Do you want heal faster and more efficiently or not?"
"I mean, a scar would look really badass-""The pain will be over soon. Relax." He opened the bottle and dripped the potion on where the injury was. Again, held in the pain and I accidentally squeezed Arnold's hand. I gave him an apologetic look. He smiled at me.
"As I was saying.. are you alright, though?" Concern filled Arnold's eyes.
"I think so, yes. As far as I can tell, nothing too bad, other than-" I coughed out water. "Yeah, I think that spoke for itself.""I'll leave you to it then, Arnold? I still have to make something to eat for you guys. Oh, and the crutches are over there, if you needed them." Noah flew off.
We just talked for the rest of the day. Talked about stuff, about everything that happened before all of this, you get what I'm saying.
"-Oh, and did I mention Samuel and the others are moving in here later this week?" he instantly went red. "I didn't mean to say that.."
"Wait, what? What are you talking about?" I said uncertainly."So.. Noah somehow formed a truce with literally everyone and we're all on the same side now. They're choosing people now, which is nice."
"I'm back!" Noah went crashing into the wall with James following him. "Yeah.. we don't talk about that, alright?""Alright then." James said. "Oh, thank goodness you're alive, April. Gwen was worried sick about you. The rest of them are on their way here, by the way. I'm just hoping Yashi or Samuel don't do anything stupid."
"Speaking of Samuel.." I began. "What persuaded you to let him and Kiara out? Like, why the sudden change of heart?"
"There was a whole truce and stuff in case Noah didn't tell you, so I had to free them. I don't know if Diana will spare me, though." A sudden sound of a goat horn came from somewhere close by. There were also horses running directly to us. "Look at that, they finally got here!""Took you lot long enough! Kept us awake the whole night, thinking you guys would come and we wanted to be there to show you around." Noah said. "Seriously, though, what took so much time?"
"These two." Roman sighed, grabbing Hailey's and Tom's horse. "Kept bickering over the direction to the house, even though there's a literal path to it!""Typical Tom and Hailey." I said. "You guys can keep your horses in the stable, by the way."
"Hey, that's harsh! We don't always argue, it's only-" Tom began. "Okay, okay, you're probably right."
Everyone put their horses in the stable and went in."Where are we all going to sleep?" Gwen said. She still hadn't noticed me. "I don't think there's enough room for all of us. In one house, too!"
"I've got a little room through this trapdoor, I think if we extend it a bit more everyone can fit." Noah opened a trapdoor, which led into a ladder."Alright. Quite a shame April's not here with us, though." her eyes lit up when they went to where I was standing. "Y-You're alive?"
"You know what they say. The main character never dies!" I ran and hugged her.
"I missed you, like, so much! Where were you?""Right here, apparently unconscious for a couple hours. I genuinely don't remember what happened that well."
I scanned the room. Yep, everyone was here: Kevin, Olivia, Roman, Isaac, Gwen, Yashi, Noah, Niki, Tom, Hailey, James, Arnold, and Samuel and Kiara. Oh yeah, those two were here. I drew out my sword."Woah, easy there. We won't hurt you." Samuel said. I still didn't trust him. But honestly, would you if he had put you through literal hell?
"Oh, shut up. There's still a chance." I said. "I'm not trying to die here."
"Hey, April!" Kiara waved. I pretended she wasn't there, I still couldn't forgive her."April." Olivia was here. I really hope she doesn't start that prison rubbish.
"What do you want?!" I finally snapped. I was done with these accusations."Nothing. Just curious.. how do you feel knowing you fooled James into thinking you were controlled? I'd feel too guilty for words."
"Enough with the prison thing. Get over it, Olivia." I rolled my eyes and walked out of the room, grabbing the crutches because I knew Arnold or Noah would kill me if I didn't use them.I looked up. It was snowing. The trees where as white as the snow and covered in it. I did a quick check around the place. I saw some sheep, cows, pigs, a tall creature with purple eyes.. wait, what?
"What is that..?" I looked at it in horror. It gave me a cold glare and came closer. No, no, no.. this wasn't real.
I blinked. It was gone, but something felt off about me. I looked at myself for a second. I looked a lot like the creature, with one purple eye and half of my face void black. Had it..?
I put on a mask on my face and came back in."Why the mask?" Arnold asked.
"I'll explain in a bit." I pulled him into an empty room. Everyone was settling in.
"My question. What's the mask for?"
"Because I'm a monster!" Tears came to my eyes, but I stopped most of them. One of them fell and it hurt somehow.
"You're exaggerating. Take the mask off so I can see what exactly happened." I took it off. "Oh my.. how did I not notice it?""Notice what?"
"You're an Enderian."
