Everything is just too much. Too much stress. Too many responsibilities. Too many worries.
Why can't the world just go away!? Lloyd screamed in his mind but his lips babbled pointlessly in his sobbing state. He sobbed and sobbed. By this point, his tears controlled him more than he was able to control them. He hid his face and let his hair fall like a curtain to cover what his knees couldn't.
His eyes were raw and his cheeks were blistered with salty tears. His face was all scrunched up like a baby's, and his nose ran like a sprinter. He was hot with embarrassment, he felt his sweat glue his hair to the back of his neck.
Despite all of this, Kai sat with Lloyd.
He wasn't holding Lloyd's hand, he didn't have an arm around him, all he did was wait. Sitting opposite Lloyd, ready to catch his eyes when he looked up.
Lloyd regained control over his cries and did all in his power to steady his breath and calm his eyes. He covered his mouth, afraid he might lose control again at any moment and scream.
He let himself look up, even if he felt his face shine red knowing Kai was here, just watching him sob.
Lloyd's eyes met Kai's and Lloyd forgot all about being embarrassed. Kai's eyes dug deep into Lloyd's, past his soul and right into his mind. His eyes shared so much understanding and care, Lloyd couldn't help but go into another fit.
What did he do to deserve Kai?
This time he leaned forward till he was on his knees, his arms outstretched. He knew Kai would catch him.
Kai guided Lloyd onto his shoulder and rubbed his back.
"Everything will be ok, Greenbean, I promise," Kai whispered into Lloyd's ear. "It'll all be alright, Lloyd, do you believe me?" Lloyd sniffed in thought.
Yes.
Lloyd managed a small nod. Kai let himself sigh. He hugged Lloyd tighter and kissed his ear, which made Lloyd giggle.
The mood lightened and Lloyd slowly let go of his grasp around Kai and rested his head on Kai's shoulder instead.
