Clean Bedsheets

(Y'all being treated with all these oneshots 🤭 Also shout out to my friend who jokingly suggested to me to write about clean bedsheets, ily girly 🫶)

Lloyd struggled against the mattress, the pillows consistently getting in his way, despite all his shoving.

“Why don’t you just put the pillows on the floor?” Kai said as he leaned on the door frame.

“And why don’t you help me!?” Lloyd cried in retaliation from under a duvet that he had somehow ended up tangled up in. Kai chuckled.

“Touché.” He walked over to the bed, catching a pillow as it tumbled off of the edge of the bed. Eventually, he saw a sliver of Lloyd’s foot and he dragged him out from under the mess.

“AH!” Lloyd squealed as he rolled out onto the floor. He stared up at Kai before bursting into laughter. Kai giggled and helped him up and they started undoing their bed sheets together.

Later...

Kai dragged up the washing basket and it thwumped onto the grass. Lloyd reached for some pegs with one hand and pulled out a pillow case. He went over to one end of the line and clipped the pillow case to the string. They each took turns worming out a sheet or a case and then pegging it up onto the line while chatting away about getting to a cafe for lunch, maybe go shopping as well. Lloyd was holding up a sheet over his head as he desperately tried to grasp the one part of the line that neither of them could reach properly, and Kai took the opportunity to sneak up in front of him.

“Wait, Kai, what are you—” Kai pounced on him with a playful roar and tackled him to the ground. Lloyd squeaked as he fought Kai’s body through his laughter. “Kahahahai! Stooop!” Lloyd pushed him off and rolled on top of him, the bed sheet still between them. Kai was able to manoeuvre the sheet off of his face and their laughing faces were finally met by each other. Slowly, their laughter died down and they were left with grins and the tears that had sparked in their eyes.

“I think we’re gonna need to wash this sheet again,” Kai said quietly, glancing at the grass stains that now covered the sides of the fabric. Lloyd giggled.

“Then we can live this day over and over.” He whispered and laid down beside Kai, looking up at the sky before glancing back at Kai who hadn’t taken his eyes off of him. Kai looked at him with a soft love.

“Lloyd,” He took Lloyd’s hand. “I love you.” Lloyd smiled, rolling onto his side.

“I love you too.”
