"Yeah- those on the right. Just one pack. Thanks." Calum said as he fiddled out a twenty from his wallet and placed it on the counter for the cashier to collect.

As the cashier searched for Calum's required cigarettes, he scanned behind the aisles to see Lacey carrying more chip packets and chocolate then physically possible for a girl that short.

Calum shook his head as he snickered to himself as he watched the girl trying to balance one of the chip bags with her chin, but miserably failed as they all plummeted to the ground.

Lacey threw the packets onto the counter where Calum stood.

"You feeding a family?" The boy cocked an eyebrow as he received his cigarette packet along with change back from the cashier. She was a middle aged woman with thin blonde hair and pink glasses.

"Piss off." Lacey stuck up. the middle finger in front of Calum's face as she too fiddled through her pocket to find a twenty dollar note. But before she could even locate any cash in her bag, Calum gave the woman another twenty dollar bill and nodded a 'thanks'.

Lacey glared up at the boy as he collected the snacks.

"Why'd you just do that?" She beamed her eyes at him, tempting not to look away.

"Do what?" Calum flashed a charming smile as he swung the door open with his foot, as both his hands were occupied. He held the door, waiting for Lacey but she stood in her tracks, her face looking like she forgot something.

"Should we get slurpees? I think we should get slurpees." Lacey nodded excitedly but Calum struck a gaze saying that she didn't need more sugar than she already bought.

"I'll be two minutes!"

"Alright." He sighed, as he caved in without questioning the girl- walking back to his car that was only twenty meters out from the front door.

Lacey ran to the front door- trying to catch him before he got too far. "OI! WHAT FLAVOUR DO YOU WANT?"

"SOMETHING TO GET RID OF MY HEAD ACH."

She rolled her eyes and jogged to the back of the 7/11 where the slurpee station laid. It was always cola flavoured for her- so she assumed Calum would like the same. He didn't seem as the raspberry flavour type of guy- too happy and bright for him.

"Just these two, please." Lacey smiled at the woman as she placed the slurpees on the bench. The lady twisted her lips into a little cheeky smile, and Lacey couldn't help but question what that was about.

"You guys seem so sweet." She tapped away on the register. "Were'd you two meet? School?" Lacey handed her two dollars with a little confusion.

"What?- oh- no. It's not like that.." Lacey awkwardly chuckled as she looked back into the window to see Calum leaning on the hood of his car- he already opened on of the chip packets.

"Really?" The sweet lady seemed almost dumbfounded.

"Uh- yeah.. He's my brother's mate. Just a friend." Lacey grabbed the freezing cups.

"Are you sure?"

"Sure about what?"

"Well I mean- maybe my senses have dulled down for about thirty years now but, you should've see his face every time he looked at you while you weren't looking." She smirked.

Lacey didn't know how to respond to that.

"No-no he's just looking out for me."

"O- okay." The woman didn't seemed convinced.

"Er- have a nice da- night."

...

"Give me the aux cord." Lacey groaned as she shifted in her spot on the passenger seat of Calum's car.
