Chapter O5 || A place for me and Freya
;don't let doubters plant doubt in your mind
It's been twenty four hours since I agreed to date Micah Simmons - fake date that is.
I haven't said a word to the girls, mainly because it's going to kill me lying to them, but also because we swore we wouldn't tell a soul. No one is to ever know what we're doing - that would be a whole 'nother level of humiliation.
"You're quiet this evening." Maisie peaks at me over the rim of her foam coffee cup. "Is it about what happened at the game yesterday?"
Just at the mere mention of yesterdays events has me looking around the diner to make sure no one heard her, and put the pieces together that I was in fact the girl the QB made a mockery of before the game.
"No, it's nothing, just got a lot on my mind." I wave her off, using my coffee to keep myself busy.
"Like?" She presses.
Oh, I don't know, Mais, maybe the fact the most popular guy in school offered to buy me a bakery if I play the doting girlfriend even though I've never been a girlfriend before...
She eyes me, waiting, then like a saving grace she can be, Stella waltzes in with a bell chiming over her head, a gust of cool air whips me as she drops in the booth seat beside me. "Guys, you never guess what!?"
Maisie leans forward, whipped cream sitting on the tip of her button nose, all ears. "What?"
Stella gives me a not so subtle glance over her shoulder, one brow raised like she knows something that I know too.
Shit, does she know?
"In Fashion History class today, Summer Hayes said she heard Micah Simmons knock a girl back claiming to have a girlfriend." She smirks at me when she says the last part. "Know anything about that, Frey?"
I shake my head, making my mouth busy by sucking the cold coffee up through a straw, what the fuck do I do?
"Are you the girlfriend?" Maisie questions me, a small crease between her brows.
Lie? Deny? Panic? Run out of here and move out our shared apartment?
The door bell chimes again hinting that someone else has walked through but I'm too busy trying to slow my heart rate down that I couldn't careless who it was, nope, not unless it was someone coming to save me from this disaster.
"Babe, hey, there you are." A deep voice rumbles behind me, light and cheery, AND familiar.
I frown at Maisie who's jaw is hanging low.
A warm body covers the back of me followed by soft lips pecking a light kiss on my cheek. Sweet cologne takes over me and renders me speechless - or was that the kiss?
