"Just shut up, Horikita!"
Under the ceiling of what was supposed to be a relaxing and calm library, an irritable shout echoed throughout this maze of almighty shelves.
That guy is Sudou Ken. He's a friend of mine. We're currently in a study group because he and two of our other friends are about to be expelled from probably the most prestigious high school to ever exist.
"I pity you, Sudou-kun. This study group was formed so incompetent people like you could prove that you aren't just dead weight. But, I now realize my fault in even thinking you had a chance."
She's Horikita Suzune—my seatmate. You can probably already tell, but our study group isn't going so well at the moment. Horikita's self-isolation has made her cold—practically cruel—to others. It's a shame because she's such a beauty. If she just acts a little bit like Kushida, she will totally have all the boys swooning over her.
Obviously, that wasn't the case. After Horikita had shot back at Sudou, he got a bit pissed and grabbed her by the collar. Despite Sudou's clear signs of aggression, not a single change could be seen in Horikita's expression. Her ice-cold glare met Sudou's almost restless eyes as if telling him, 'Try me.'
"Stop it, Sudou-kun!" a charming high-pitched voice pleaded for the furious high school boy to stop.
That's Kushida Kikyou. She's kinda like our class idol. She's loved by everyone, boys and girls alike. Well, except for Horikita. I get a sense that she despises her. Not even a sense; she literally told me. She's cute, though. I wonder why Horikita hates her so much. Great figure as well.
"Do you think this show of violence would interest me in the slightest? I've got your whole life story down by just the foolish actions you've been showing. Didn't you want to become a professional basketball player? Are you implying that you'll succeed with that attitude? Sorry, if a single math question got you this worked up, you'll never achieve anything in life, let alone fulfill your dreams."
"You..!"
Horikita was pushing the right buttons. The difference between their psychological capabilities was the distance between heaven and Earth. I almost feel bad for Sudou, but I guess we can't really do anything about it.
"What are you going to do?" asked Horikita.
"Horikita, you're a piece of shit. I'm done with this. I'm done. I quit," Sudou let go of Horikita. "I even skipped club practice for this shit. What a waste of time."
"Likewise," Horikita shot back.
After assessing the situation, two of our other friends couldn't handle the heavy atmosphere and decided to quit as well. Of course, Horikita didn't shy in throwing her most logical insults at them before they left. It left a bitter taste in everyone's mouth, but at least this circus show was over.
