I was staring out the window of my tour bus; we were going to a show, our first show in San Diego. We were a female fronted band which was rare to have in this industry. Yeah sure, the show was sold out, but I was sure it had something to do with the band we were opening for. We were never told who we were opening for. Our manager hated telling us stuff like that, because she knew we would get all excited. Suddenly I was shook out of my daydream.
“Courtney, we’re almost to the venue” My best friend Esther said sitting down next to me.
“All ready?” I said looking out the window. It was beautiful.
“Yeah, in like 15 minutes” She said and smiled. I got up and headed to my room in the back of the bus, I was almost ready; I just needed to fix my hair. I always teased it before a show.
A few minutes later I was finished, Esther walked in and smiled at me “We’re here” She said, we both walked back to the front. “Oh my god!” I heard Esther scream
“Wh-what?!” I said and looked at her; she turned my head to look out the window. I couldn’t see what she was looking at, “You don’t see him?” she screamed at me “It’s Jaime Preciado!” She screamed and turned towards the door. Before I could stop her, she was already outside.
“Ugh!” I screamed and ran out over towards her. “Sorry, about her” I said looking at him. “No, you guys are fine.” He said slightly laughing. “Hey guys! Get out here!” He yelled.
“No need to do all that!” I said and turned towards Esther, but I was too late, First Mike came out, then tony. “Guys, these are the girls who are opening up for us.” Jaime said and turned to them.
“Oh cool” Tony said looking over at me. “Nice, Finally a change” Mike added. I looked at them both and couldn’t help but smiling, I was standing in front of the very band that gave me the inspiration to make a band, well, minus a member, I’m guessing he’s busy.
“How did you know we were opening for you guys?” Esther said, she couldn’t keep her eyes off of Jaime. “We were told” Jaime said and smiled. “Hey, where’s Vic?” Jaime turned to mike and asked.
“He’s busy, he’ll be out in a second” Mike said. A second after he said that, Vic came down the stairs. I turned my head quickly. Esther noticed what was happening and jumped in “Oh, cool, we weren’t told, our manager wants to surprise us sometimes.” She said.
“What’s going on out here?” Vic said
“Well, these are the two opening up for us” Jaime said and turned to us. I looked up and slightly smiled a little, “Yeah” I mumbled and Vic smiled at me. “Oh, Cool. Well here, come with us, we have to do a sound check, we came a little early.” He said. “Of course, but wait, I got to get something off of the bus.” I said and turned and ran off. When I got onto the bus, I let out a loud scream, I looked out the window and gathered myself, and I grabbed our phones and got back off the bus. I walked over to them and before I could hand Esther her phone, Tony grabbed both of ours. “Here, Have our numbers” He said and they passed our phones around. “Are we ready to go?” Vic asked. We nodded and started walking towards to front of the venue. We walked by some fans and we had to stop and let the guys do their thing. Finally, all the fans went away and the guys looked over at us. “Done now?” I asked and they smiled.
We finally got into the venue and got back stage. “Ah, I see you guys met!” Their Manager said in excitement. “Well more like I ran over to Jaime and screamed in his ear” Esther said laughing; I heard Jaime let out a little chuckle. “Ah good, I was waiting for that” Their manager said dragging the guys away, we stayed side stage as the guys took the stage and started playing Hell Above for their sound check.
“Get used to this” Esther said
“Eh? Why?” I said, I couldn’t keep my eyes off of Vic.
“Look at you, still the same crush as you had in high school” She said smiling. “Face it, you guys are going to be together and you’ll be standing here at every show” She finished.
“You never change” I said and laughed, they finished their song and walked over to us. Tony grabbed my arm and pulled me to the side. “I heard you guys” He said and looked down at me.
“You did? I asked slightly scared. “Of course, I did” He said “Don’t worry, I won’t tell.” He said and ruffled my hair, I flinched a little but he didn’t notice, we walked back to the guys.
“We have a little time before the show, what should we do?” Esther asked.
“Don’t you guys have to unload your stuff and put it on stage?” Mike asked.
“We were hoping you guys would help?” I jumped in. “Sure” Vic said. We walked back out to the vehicle our instruments were in. I walked back on to the bus to get my Mic. When I walked back off, Vic was waiting behind the tour bus for me.
“Where did everyone else go?” I asked him. “Back inside. To set up” He said and smiled at me. “Hey, I wanted to ask something” He said after a long moment of silence. “What is it?” I asked. He handed me his phone “can you put your number in?” He asked. “Sure, I guess” I put in my number and handed it back to him. He smiled and put it back in his pocket. We walked backed into the venue and they turned to us. “It’s time.” Vic said. “Get ready” He finished. Esther grabbed her microphone from the speaker and looked at me. “Ready?” she asked. I nodded my head “Ready” I said and we turned to face the stage.
