The morning sun filtered into the dining room where the entire family had gathered, waiting patiently for Siddharth and Avneet. The moment the two stepped in, they greeted everyone with a cheerful "Good morning," which was warmly returned. As they took their seats, a soft giggle filled the room—Khushi had climbed onto Siddharth's lap, wrapping her tiny arms around his neck.
Avneet raised a brow. "Princess, let your dad have breakfast properly," she gently chided.
But Sid just smiled and shook his head. "It's okay, Avi."
While they began eating, Avneet turned to Vaish. "Bhabhi, today you have a doctor's appointment, right?"
Vaishnavi nodded. "Yes."
Vibha, who was pouring herself some tea, asked, "Who's going with you?"
Vaishnavi glanced toward Abhishek, who looked up mid-bite. "What time is the appointment?"
"Five in the evening," she replied softly.
He gave a small smile. "Okay, I'll be back by then."
Breakfast passed with light chatter, and soon everyone dispersed to begin their day. Siddharth and Abhishek headed to the office together.
Inside the car, Siddharth turned to his brother. "Dada..."
"Hmmm?" Abhishek kept his eyes on the road.
"Tomorrow is mom and dad's anniversary."
"I know."
"Then what about the cake?"
"I already ordered it," Abhishek replied. "They'll deliver it home."
Siddharth looked horrified. "What? At home? Are you serious, dada? This is a surprise for mom and dad! If the cake gets delivered there, the surprise will be ruined!"
Abhishek winced. "Shit... I didn't think of that."
Sid rubbed his forehead. "Call the bakery and tell them we'll pick it up ourselves."
"Done."
The rest of the day went by normally. Abhishek left the office early to accompany Vaishnavi to her doctor's appointment.
Later that night, around 11:15, after dinner, the family gathered in Abhinavi's room. Vibha and Ranveer had already retired to their room. Vaishnavi, Avneet, and Faisu were on the bed, while Jannat and Samiridhi sat on the nearby sofa. Abhishek was pacing, clearly irritated as he repeatedly tried to call someone.
"Where the hell is he?" he muttered under his breath.
Vaishnavi tried to calm him. "Why are you getting so hyper? He's probably busy."
Abhishek kept dialing. "In 45 minutes it'll be mom and dad's anniversary. We're supposed to surprise them at midnight, and he's not even picking up!"
"Bhaiya," Faisu said calmly, "Buddy will reach on time."
Just then, Abhishek's phone rang, and he sighed in relief. "Thank God."
"Put it on speaker," Vaishnavi urged.
Abhishek did, but before anyone could speak, Siddharth's voice filled the room—loud and frustrated. "What the hell, Dada!"
"Why aren't you answering my calls? And where are you?" Abhishek snapped.
