so i did have a bit of a struggle planning this one out, just because the fact about anneliese and erika being near look-alikes. i was toying with the idea of having marinette somehow be both anneliese and erika but that would've been not only a little weird, but highly confusing. so, i went with what you're going to see. enjoy!
and i will be adding song lyrics this time, because they all slap and i love them!
and can we agree anneliese is one of the prettiest names known to humankind? like, if i could, i'd name my future child anneliese. or genevieve. both those barbie names are my favorite. then again, corinne is also a pretty name...
dang it barbie, you have beautiful names for your characters; i can't choose!
"So you and Adrien have been quite close lately," Alya said.
Marinette nearly spit out her juice. "What?"
"Yeah, you and Adrien," Alya shrugged. "You've been a lot closer. Like, since a few weeks ago."
Marinette nearly choked this time. A few weeks ago had been Barbie in the Nutcracker. When they'd discovered the power to travel into movies.
"Alya, it's nothing," she said, trying to save face.
"Sure, and you doing random dance moves out of nowhere is also nothing," Alya said.
Marinette looked away. Yeah, so doing two ballet movies had made her feet begin to waltz around every once in a while.
"I'm just glad you're getting closer together," Alya smiled. "Have you told him about your crush yet?"
Marinette flushed red. "Are you kidding? Of course I haven't!"
Alya laughed. "I should have known."
"Our fourth Barbie movie!" Adrien cheered.
"Wow, you are way too excited about this," Marinette giggled.
"Because you said this one is the best one!" Adrien beamed, acting like a hyperactive four-year-old.
"Actually, I'm currently trying to decide between this and two others on which one is the best one, but Princess and the Pauper is pretty amazing," Marinette said. "Then of course they ripped off their own movie and that remake just sucked."
Adrien wasn't sure how to reply to that one.
Marinette finally fished out the DVD and slid the disc into her computer. "I just wonder which of the doppelgänger duo I'll get."
"There's two?" Adrien asked as the pink and blue butterflies flew across the screen.
"Yes, Anneliese and Erika," Marinette explained. "The only difference is their hair colors. And the birthmark Anneliese has but Erika doesn't. Hopefully we can see the prologue before going into the movie."
"Long ago and far away, in a village high on a mountaintop, something amazing was occurring. At the very same moment, two identical baby girls were born! One, a baby princess. The king and queen were overjoyed. Princess Anneliese would have only the finest. The second baby girl was named Erika. Her parents loved her every bit as much as the king and queen loved the princess, but they worried. They were so poor. How would they be able to care for their little daughter?"
Adrien furrowed his brow. "Oh, so they were born at the same time?"
Marinette shrugged. "Yeah. Movie logic; we just don't question it."
"Ah," Adrien nodded and turned back to the screen.
"Many years passed. The princess learned her royal duties, while Erika worked long and hard as a seamstress for the spiteful Madame Carp. With lives so different, it wasn't surprising that the princess and the pauper never met. But fate decreed they would."
