i swear someone pitched this movie with "alright, so how can we make this movie a fever dream?"
like nothing makes sense in this movie. i mean, it's wonderland, obviously, but like...
oh gosh, logical ladybug is gonna have a ton of fun in this one...
"...You're joking."
"No, I'm being serious."
Cat Noir snorted a little. "Ladybug, you're one of the most logical people I've ever met, and you want to go to Wonderland?!"
Ladybug gripped Alice in Wonderland tighter. "One, you said it was still my turn. And two, this was something I liked watching as a little girl."
Cat Noir pursed his lips together. "But... it's just a world of nonsense. Are you sure you can handle it? I don't want you going as insane as you did in Cinderella."
Ladybug gave a nervous chuckle at the mention of her outbursts against Lady Tremaine. "In my defense, that woman is just horrible."
"I mean, you have a point there," Cat Noir said. "But are you sure you can handle Wonderland?"
"I handled Lady Tremaine and the Evil Queen, I think I'll be fine against the Queen of Hearts," Ladybug shrugged.
Cat Noir scoffed at the mention of Lady Tremaine. "Barely," he muttered.
Ladybug rolled her eyes. "Are we gonna do this or not?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For the first time, they landed in the same spot. To be more precise, Ladybug landed on her back and Cat Noir fell on all fours right on top of her.
"You have got to be joking," she groaned as he slid away, landing on his butt in the grass. They had landed in a large meadow, and underneath a tree was a young woman reading from a book. A girl in a blue dress and white apron looked disinterested, making flower crowns. Both heroes quickly dove behind a bush to remain unseen for the moment.
The woman was too invested in the book: "...leaders, and had been of late much accustomed to usurpation and conquest. Edwin and Morcar, the earls of Mercia and Northumbria declared for him, and even Stigand... Alice!"
The girl--Alice--looked down at her sister. "Oh, I'm listening."
"Wow, she lies really well," Cat Noir whispered as they saw Alice quickly lose interest again.
Her sister went back to her book. "And even Stigand, the archbishop of Canterbury, agreed to meet with William and offer him the crown."
Alice slipped the finished product onto her cat, but it quickly fell off. Alice giggled as the flower crown fell to her sister, who looked up disapprovingly.
"Will you kindly pay attention to your history lesson?" her sister scolded, her British accent crisper.
"Here's history for you: if this was the Middle Ages, we would be hating each other," Ladybug snorted.
(i needed to throw a british/french joke in there. i'm a history fan, okay?)
"I'm sorry," Alice told her sister. "But how can one possibly pay attention to a book without pictures in it?"
"My dear child," her sister said, her face looking like she was just done with Alice's antics. "There are many good books in this world without pictures."
