Sleeping Beauty

i watched this movie recently to get a firm grasp on the plot so i could figure out how ladynoir fits in here, and oh my gosh. aurora and phillip actually got themselves in a temporary love square. like... that's talent. they don't even have masks!

also did you know that aurora is only second to dumbo in the "disney protagonists with the least amount of lines" contest? Yeah, the official record states that throughout this entire hour and twenty minutes, she's only speaking eighteen times and in fact, is only on-screen eighteen minutes (the joys have having a whole book dedicated to disney characters). you'd think for a movie named after her, she'd have more screentime...

update on the screentime because as part of my project i actually sat with a stopwatch her screentime is actually about 12.1 minutes! congrats disney. your main character isn't even in 20% of the movie.

anyways, time for the movie!

"Are you still mad at me for Swan Princess?"

Ladybug simply pursed her lips in response.

"Got it," Cat Noir said.

"Just warning you now, if you make us do any of the Swan Princess sequels, we're ending this little movie thing," Ladybug said.

"Locked in my head and I'll never forget," Cat Noir nodded. "So... I picked something better."

He held out Sleeping Beauty. "Figured you could use a nap."

"Something you're not telling me?" she raised an eyebrow.

"No, nothing," he felt his cheeks flush.

Ladybug giggled a little. "It's okay, I know I haven't been sleeping well lately."

She rubbed her eyes when she felt arms wrap around her shoulders, and no, her cheeks were definitely not beginning to redden.

"Just relax until we get transported into this thing," he said.

Ladybug normally wouldn't have let herself get this close with Cat Noir, but she felt exhaustion set in and scooted even closer.

She was very lucky no one caught any photos of them.

"Gosh, these credits are so long," she whined.

"Patience, m'lady," he giggled a little. The screen finally changed to the beginning of the actual film.

"Look, Disney's obligatory bejeweled book cover," Ladybug pointed out as the book on the screen cracked open.

"In a far away land, long ago, lived a king and his fair queen. Many years had they longed for a child and finally their wish was granted. A daughter was born, and they called her Aurora."

"Aurora, Briar Rose, Sleeping Beauty, they really couldn't think of a consistent name for this kid," Ladybug snorted.

"Is that you making a joke or the sleeplessness talking?" Cat Noir asked.

"Knowing me, a little bit of both."

"Yes, they named her after the dawn for she filled their lives with sunshine. Then a great holiday was proclaimed throughout the kingdom, so that all of high or low estate might pay homage to the infant princess. And our story begins on that most joyful day."

"And our little adventure begins on that day," Ladybug said as the screen turned to light.

They fell in a heap in the middle of the celebration.

Ladybug was the first one up to immediately notice the little baby next to the pair.
