"Ah. Hello, darling." Lucia started, smirking at Scarlett. "And...friend that loves meddling." She said glancing at Astrid.
"So you're involved in this. I thought you gave up after your little embarrassment." Scarlett snarked remembering when her dad and her were able to deceive the government agents at Lucia's expense.
"Well, little brat. Now that I have proof, the joke's on you " she said, flicking Scarlett's nose, making the girl groan. "You and your foster freak are going to make me rich. Your dad has a habit of raising freaks, doesn't he?"
"Don't insult my father, you bitch! He'll forever be a better parent than you could ever be." Scarlett said, pulling against the chains.
"Funny you should say that," Lucia smirked, suddenly the door opened to reveal a girl in a cheer outfit. She looked to be in her mid teen years. "Scarlett, Meddling friend, meet my step daughter Rebecca."
"You found another kid to torture. So what?" Scarlett said blankly.
"Why would I do that? After all, this bundle of joy was the reason I found you guys. She saw first hand, how Jade took her emotions." Lucia said.
"So you're the one who found out." Astrid said. "How do you feel, being the reason they're about to become government properties?"
"I...I didn't..." Rebecca started but was cut off by Lucia.
"Whatever. Now. The main reason I came here was to have a little payback on you." She said pointing at Scarlett. "The chains are attached to a machine that's capable of sending shock waves to your brain. It's extremely painful, dear." She smirked.
"No!! Don't do that!!!" Astrid screamed, clearly imagining the horror in her brain.
"Luc...mom, I don't think the agency would like that." Rebecca said.
"Oh you don't have to worry about that. See it as a shock therapy to hasten and strengthen her brain properties." The witch shrugged. Now, enjoy the show.
Lucia quickly walked to a lever and pulled it, earning a shrill from Scarlett as electric currents surged into her system. She screamed in pain, tears brimming in her eyes. Lucia pushed on the lever, stopping the flow and smirking.
"That'll teach you to mess with me, brat." She said before leaving the room. "Rebecca!" She called, making the teen run out the door.
"Scar? Are you okay?" Astrid called softly, sniffling.
Scarlett couldn't summon the strength to speak so she groaned, instead, taking heavy breaths.
"Good cause I think you must've peed yourself." Astrid said before snickering, making Astrid groan louder.
"Worst day ever." She muttered.
"I wonder what Jade must be going through?" Astrid sighed. "She's been through a lot already and now this?"
"Nothing's going to happen to her." Scarlett said with a sense of finality. "I'll make sure of that."
"When did you start caring for her?"
"She has no one else, so why can't I step up. Whether I accept it or not, she's still my sister." She said.
"I swear you have a bipolar disorder you're not telling me about."

After some minutes of silence, with both parties thinking of a breakout plans, Scarlett groaned before pulling on her chains.
"I'm blank." She said.
"Me too. It doesn't help that were stuck here." Astrid nodded.
Suddenly, the door creaked opened, quietly as a girl snuck into the room hastily. It was Rebecca, Lucia's torture toy. (Scarlett's words, not mine).
"Hey." She said stopping in front of the duo. "I'm here to help, I promise."
She quickly ran to a button and pushed it. The chains instantly released Scarlett, who flexed her wrist letting out a sigh of relief. She looked at Rebecca who was now behind Astrid, untying her.
"Why are you doing this?" Scarlett asked sternly.
"I am so sorry for what I did. I just did it to get back at Jade. I didn't know it was going to be this bad." She sighed.
"What do you mean?" Astrid asked, furrowing her brows as they stared down the high schooler.
"There was this boy I had a crush on and...and today I saw him talking to Jade and...I guess I got jealous. After the incident, my parents asked what happened and I knew they were going to track Jade down if they found out she's an empath. Jealousy got the best of me and I told them everything." She sighed.
"Wait...how do you even know about empaths?" Scarlett asked, trying her best to ignore the fact that all the things happening to her today was because of a highschool crush.
"It's all Lucia ever talks about." She groaned.
"So let me get this straight, you're willing to let us go, and risk disgracing your step mom."
"I don't care about her. She's not a good person and I never wanted her in my life. If the agents come and you guys are gone, dad's gonna flip and it's 'bye bye Lucia'. The girl shrugged.
"I like you. You're mean." Scarlett said, earning a nudge from Astrid.
"Thanks?" Rebecca shrugged. "Okay. Here are your phones. I stole them from Lucia. Get Jade and leave before the agents come."
"Umm....I have a better idea." Scarlett smirked. "Get your dad and leave this place. This all ends here."
