I wake up before everyone else and take Tabby back to her room. I didn't want Micah knowing she was with me the whole night. When I lay her down I plant a kiss on her forehead and go back to my room. I lay down in my bed and put my hands behind my head. Tabby came to me instead of Micah when she was crying. I smile to myself. I can hear everyone stirring now, so I get up and go get breakfast. (I know I don't eat real food, but when there's no blood I don't complain). I catch Tabby's eye and wink at her. She smiles and comes up beside me.
"You doing better?" I whisper.
"Yeah, thanks." She whispers back. I smile. We all finish the little breakfast we had in silence. After I was done I went up to my room to get ready for the ball. Guys had to go first and wait for the girls to come later. I put on my tux and was about to put on my tie when there was a knock on my door.
"Come in." I say. Tabby walks in and smiles. She comes over and takes the tie from me. She puts the tie around my neck.
"Damon, please be careful going to the ball." She looks up at me and finishes tying my tie. I place my hand on her cheek.
"I will be careful. I promise." I look down at the necklace she got from Micah. "That's not gonna protect you.." I take it off her neck and walk to the window. I open the window and throw the necklace as hard as I can. I turn around and grab a little box from the dresser.
"But this will." I stop in front of her and open the box. It's a simple ring. I lift it out and grab her right hand. I slide it on her finger. She smiles.
"This ring will protect you from zombies." She looks confused.
"How?" She asks.
"If one bites you, nothing will happen to you." I explain. "Keep it on at all times." She nods and I kiss her cheek.
"Come on, I need to go." I walk to the door and she follows.
Micah and Niall are ready and waiting at the door. Tabby goes over to Micah and kisses his cheek.
"Be careful." She says. He just nods. She walks back over to the stairs leading to the rooms. I walk over to her.
"Be careful later." I whisper in her ear. I kiss her neck and she shivers.
"I will be careful, I promise." She says. I smile and walk out the door with the others.
