WHERE GREEN MEETS YELLOW
mattheo riddle - hp universe
act one - chapter two
" fallin' for ya "

"what're you reading?" cedric smirked, grabbing the book from her hands as he walked past charlotte.

"a book." she smirked, knowing what part of the book she had just been on.

he hummed, glancing at the unfamiliar title, before flipping to the page that was open and skimming the pages. as his eyes caught sight of the words, his jaw became slack and his eyes widened.

"don't steal a lady's book." she smirked, stealing the written literature from his hands and strutting away.

"you're no lady." he joked, bouncing after her.

charlotte scoffed, turning and glaring at the boy. "i am too."

"no you're not." draco added as he passed with a few slytherins. charlotte recognized the faces as pansy parkinson, daphne greengrass, vincent crabbe, and gregory goyle.

"shut up, ferret." the blonde simply laughed as him and his friends continued down the hall.

"are you coming tomorrow night?" cedric asked as they continued walking.

"no. i hate you. i'm not coming." charlotte joked, turning her head away before running from the brunette.

"char!" he called, chasing after her, hearing her giggle echo down the hall. "get back here, scamander!" he laughed.

"catch me, ricky!" she laughed, turning to face him. she had run far ahead of him and was now stood on the edge of a balcony. she jokingly climbed onto the stone railing, which was just thick enough to hold half her foot.

she had every intention to climb down as soon as he got closer. as she watched the fear fill his face as he ran faster, calling after her, she was going to get down right away.

"charlotte, get down!" he yelled, the shenanigans leaving his tone at this point.

"alright, alri- ah!"

the heel of charlotte's foot went half an inch too far back, and pieces of the stone started to crumble. her foot slipped, and just when she accepted that she was falling and it was going to hurt, a hand grasped onto her forearm harshly.

charlotte yelped from the force the person had as they held onto her. they said nothing as they grabbed her other hand and pulled her up and back onto solid ground, collapsing onto their back with her on top.

charlotte moved her blonde hair from her face as she got a look at her savior. making eye contact with mattheo riddle, a deep crimson blush crept onto her cheeks.

"th-thank you." she smiled softly, blinking as his brown eyes stared into her green ones.

"'course." he mumbled. his tone made her think he wanted to get up and leave, or at least get back to whatever he had been doing before she fell, but he didn't move. he stayed, laying underneath her, not twitching, flinching, or having a single spasm.

and neither did she. charlotte laid, eyes connected deeply with his, as she practically straddled the boy. she didn't move, either, not did she want to. in fact, she wished she would never have to.

sure, they had just met a few nights ago, but she felt as though she had known him her whole life. she hadn't even exchanged more than a few sentences with him ever, and yet she loved the sound of his voice; so much so that she could listen to it until she was deaf. she'd made eye contact less than a handful of times, and yet she could stare at his chocolate irises until she went blind, not blinking once. his jaw was perfectly defined; could cut a diamond.
