WHERE GREEN MEETS YELLOW
mattheo riddle - hp universe
act one - chapter seven
" dance practice "

after their incident in the library, mattheo and charlotte were doing an amazing job of being good sports and not making it awkward. that is, if by amazing you mean they went back to their study area, claimed certain parts of the research, and hadn't spoke to each other in the last day and a half. if so, then yes, they were doing amazing.

the students at hogwarts were on a class schedule that ended up with the students having one set of classes on mondays and wednesdays, another set on tuesdays and thursdays, and their fridays alternated between those two sets each week.

because of this, charlotte had been able to avoid mattheo since wednesday after potions class, since that was their only class together. however, she'd just finished her transfiguration class, which meant she had fifteen minutes until her potions class.

her heart dropped as she started walking, before seeing draco turn the corner and walk down the same hallway she was. "malfoy!" she called, running after him.

he turned at the sound of his name, his eyes landing on the blonde. his heart skipped a beat as he stopped walking, allowing her to catch up. had mattheo told him and the other boys about what had happened in the library? of course. was draco going to avoid the subject with every power in his being? of course.

"hey, char." he smiled as she was next to him.

"hi." they walked for a minute or two in silence, before she spoke up. "so how's working with blaise?" she asked.

"fine, fine. he's wicked smart."

"so are you." she giggle a bit, and they were back to their normal selves, her and mattheo's weird, flirty relationship, no longer standing in the way of their own friendship.

"not really. i just memorize the shit. blaise actually learns it."

"everyone learns differently." she shrugged. "i'm, like, physical i guess? i have to actually do it or see it. that's why all of our history classes have been brutal to me." she explained.

"really? i've always been great at those. things like potions however?" he left the question rhetorical as they both laughed softly.

"i miss this. we don't talk very often. we should do it more." she smiled, and he quickly nodded.

"yes, we should." he paused. "hey, who's taking you to the yule ball?" he asked.

"i'm not sure. i'll probably go with friends. i'd go with ced, but he's had a crush on this ravenclaw in his year forever, so he's working up the courage to ask him."

draco hummed, opening the door to their potions class, allowing her to walk in. "well you should go with us. enzo's working up the courage to ask luna, and i think blaise is asking the weasley girl, but me, nott, parkinson, greengrass, and—" he took in a sharp breath, making the girl look up at him. as soon as they made eye contact, she knew who he was talking about. "w-well we're all going as a group, is all i mean. you should join, it'd be fun."

she smiled. "sure, that sounds fun." her heart beat rapidly as she thought about the one name he hadn't said. he was going to be there, and she had the option of going in his group. "i'll, uhm, i'll seriously think about it." she smiled softly as he nodded, walking backwards to his friends.

"cool. let me know, scamander." he said, finally turning and sitting with his friends. as he saw the look on the boys' faces, his brows furrowed. "what?"

"riddle's gonna be pissed you're talking to her." blaise shrugged.

"did you just ask her to go with you to the ball?" theodore asked hushedly.
