You felt something pressed on your lips. It was warm and soft but it doesn’t last very long. You wonder what it is. You sensed someone stroking your hair, but you’re not sure who it is.You wanted to open your eyes and see that person but couldn’t as your eyelids felt heavy. You wanted to move your body but were unable to. That stroking stopped, and you felt that person leaves.
You don’t know what’s wrong with you, you couldn’t move. Everything is pitch black, and you instantly felt like you were about to drown and lose awareness of your surroundings once more.
You slowly open your eyes. Your throat is dry and very thirsty. It took you sometime before you get your vision clear.
You felt pain all over your body and then you realized that you were spared from death. You look around the place you don’t where you are but the room is empty.
You turn to your side sensing someone. She’s staring at you and smiled while eating an apple. You frown looking at her, you don’t knoe who she was but she had blond hair tinted and a male cut.
“At last you’re awake,” she said, you ignore her and try to get up, cringing at the discomfort. “I heard a lot about you, you’re the mouth word of this place.”
You look at her once again still frowning. “Do I know you?” you asked dryly, she is still wearing her smile as she replied, “I’m Yelena, nice meeting you Y/N,” you only nodded in response, your body still feeling weak and exhausted.
How long have I been asleep?
“Aside from Levi, you were also this land’s best weapon. You killed most of the Marley’s military forces with only a single sword, how powerful,” she commented, but you remain silent having no motivation to talk.
“Sadly following the agreement you made with the scouts you will now be back to jail...”
The door opens revealing Levi. He walked in glaring at Yelena, “What are you doing here?”
Yelena took a stand chuckling, “I just passed by and had a quick visit. I’m hungry so I eat apple don’t worry you there’s plenty of fruits. I’m taking my leave now.” You only watch her as she take her leave. She’s weird…
You heard Levi sighs and sat down on the chair beside your bed. “How do you feel?” he asked. You looked at him and replied with, “I’m tired.”
He reached for your hand and gently held them. “I heard about Ethan, I’m sorry.” You were a bit surprised looking at him but you only look down smiling bitterly.
“At least he recognizes me before he died,” you muttered. You watched your hand as Levi gently caressing it, and the warmth of his touch calmed you. He’s being soft again.
“Do you want to see your father?” You give him a startled face. You wondered on how he learned about your father. You didn’t tell him anything though.
“We are paying a visit on every family of our comrades who died and will give them our condolences. He was a military police and recruited as scouts, he did devote his heart.”
You took a deep breath thinking whether you should go to see your father or not.
Did he know that her daughter is a shadow killer, did he even knew that I was still alive?
You were silent for a long while before making a decision, “Where does he reside?”
After being in the hospital for a week, you were finally discharged, and now your strength has returned, your wounds are beginning to heal on their own.
You’re on your way to see your father because you will later be returned to the jail where you belonged.
“That’s her, who massacred the enemy’s military.”
“Yeah, because of her the forces of our enemy will go downhill.”
“She’s amazing, she did become our ally.”
You continue to walk ignoring the people around you. It doesn’t really matter to you, what matter is what you’ll do if you see your father after such long time.
Inside Wall Rose, you and Levi finally arrived; you stare at the small house. So this is where they were living.
You walked towards the door after Levi motioned you to go alone. You stare at the door for a while before taking a deep breath; you knock multiple times on the door.
You received no response from within. You reached for the door and gently open it. You peek inside before entering but you couldn’t see anyone, is this even the right house?
You enter and have a look around. You guess that maybe he went outside. This place is dirty and dusty, but it is quiet big inside compare to how it looks outside. After a while you suddenly felt someone’s presence.
“You must be the scout they sent to give me condolences and I saw Captain Levi outside. I already heard about my son, you don’t need to bother yourself to visit.”
You turned around seeing this old man clutching rifle and a slain deer on his shoulder. He’s still doing his hobby.
He looked at you staring at your face causing your heart to beat fast, you never thought that he would this old.
“Oh, you’re that shadow killer. I saw your portrait all over the place and I heard you massacred the enemy, you’re extremely strong.”
Did I hear him right, he’s complementing me, and does he even know who I am? Does he had no idea that he was the one who turned me into this.
“I invited Captain to come but he refused. Have a seat, I’ll prepare for your tea.” You don’t understand. He’s not like this, where is that strict and abusive father, is this man even my father?
You remain standing unsure on what to do, you watched him walk towards the kitchen preparing your tea. You don’t know why, but just by staring at him in this way, you were overwhelmed with sadness.
“What are you doing have seat, make yourself comfortable.” You watched as he placed a cup of tea.
This is not what you expected if you meet him, this is far from what you imagined.
“D-Did you really not recognized me?” You asked, and he gave you a perplexed look.
“What do you mean?” He looked at you really bewildered and couldn’t understand you because you are merely in silent and staring at him.
It took him sometime before his eyes widened in surprised. “A-Are…are you my daughter, Y/N?”
He approached you, trying to hold your face with his trembling hands, but before it reaches you, you fall back.
“Did you force Ethan to join the scout?” you enquired as his hands slid to his sides.
“I…I did not. He did sign up voluntarily. He only joined to show his achievement to me, I should’ve stopped him. I honestly don’t want him to join because I know he is weak--,”
“He is not weak, he is strong. He did save me.” You said cutting him off. He's always like this saying Ethan is weak, and you hated hearing it from him.
When he turned to face you, you could see that he was in pain. He sat down as he felt his knee weakens as he faces you.
“I am sorry for what I did to you. As I couldn’t afford to buy food for us, I had to sell you to that merchant in order for us to survive. Ethan is the only one I have left, I did consider selling him, but I couldn’t. After selling you I didn’t get any information from you so I got worried. I did regret it.”
You remain silent and were only looking at him. “Don’t bother; it’s the last time you will be able to see me. We won’t meet each other again. I’m glad that you’re doing fine.”
You turn your back when you felt warm sensation in your eyes. You reached for the door but before you could finally exit the house, he said, “I know I failed as your father, and I won’t ask you for forgiveness.”
