Ophelia
"A what now?" Ethan asked looking up from his laptop.
"A trip. Let's go on a trip," I told him.
"You wanna go on a holiday with me?" he asked skeptically.
"Are you mad? Or do you think I have lost it? Why would I ever wanna go on a holiday with you?" I rolled my eyes.
"You just said so," he glared at me.
"No, I said let's go on a trip," I argued.
"Look, Ophelia. I am in middle of some real important work and you can't just barge into my office like this and expect me to out of nowhere understand all the nonsense that you sputter from that mouth of yours," he looked at me with frustration.
I rolled my eyes and sat down on the chair opposite to him, "Ethan, I was thinking let's go on a trip this weekend. You, me, James and Anastasia. All four of us should go on a trip."
"No," Ethan said and started typing again.
"Why not?" I said and shut his laptop.
"Ophelia!" Ethan looked at me with irritation and reopened his laptop.
"Answer me first," I said and shut it again.
"Because I have loads of work to do, Ophelia. Unlike you," he said with irritation.
"It's a long weekend!" I argued.
"For others. I have work. My partner is visiting for discussing our next project," he told me.
This is another thing I have noticed about Ethan. Whenever he talks about someone, he refers to them by their profession or relation to him. Except for Mr. Coles, Ash and Carla, that too just while talking to me. Maybe because I know them. Otherwise, it is always my partner, my housekeeper, my friend, my driver, my security guy, Spanish client, German deal, another business magnet, business owner. It is never the name.
I wonder how he refers to me while talking to others? My...roommate? My friend, maybe.
Concentrate, Ophelia.
I shook the thoughts out of my head and continued.
"Is he like you too? A workaholic ass who has no life or family to spend time with on a long weekend?" I rolled my eyes.
"He is a greater workaholic, but he does have a family, a wife to be specific, but he is still visiting because work is more important," he told me.
"Not more than your family. And, if this partner of yours loves his wife even a bit, I am sure he would be ecstatic to spend the weekend with her instead of working."
"He and his wife just came back from their two year anniversary trip two weeks ago. It was almost a month long. I doubt he needs another vacation anytime soon," Ethan argued.
"That's not how normal people are, Mr. Welsh," I looked at him with disbelief.
"Maybe but, work is top priority for both of us when it is urgent," I told her.
"Is this urgent?" I asked narrowing my eyes.
He gulped and said, "A little."
"I can bet my life it was your idea to meet on a holiday," I said with a raised eyebrow.
He looked at me and then rolled his eyes in defeat, "Whatever."
I rolled my eyes at him and said, "Perfecto! Cancel it!"
"No."
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Because I wanna go on a trip!"
