"Riri" I called as I barged into her room. "Did you forget- Oh, am I interrupting something?"

Her and Shuri sat on the bed, looking like there having somewhat of an intense conversation.

"Nope, not at all." Riri said, forcing a smile on her lips before walking out of the room, pulling me with her to the couch. "Did I forget about what?"

"This weekend."

She stared at me blankly, indicating that she most definitely forgot what was going on.

I pressed my lips together, giving her a disappointed look. We literally did this every year and somehow this year she "forgot".

"My family's big summer gathering? Does that ring a bell? At all?"

"Oh shit." She mumbled under her breath, making me roll my eyes. "I definitely forgot..... We're still going." She said in a duh tone.

"What about your guest?" I asked, earning a chuckle from Shuri who had somehow snuck into the room.

"She can come too."

My eyes widened as I shook my head quickly.

She gave me a confused look before a smirk took over when she realized why I was saying no.

"You didn't tell your family that you and Shuri broke up, did you?

More chuckles escaped Shuri's lips, quickly ending once I gave her a glare.

"I didn't have time..." I mumbled, knowing it was a pitiful excuse.

"Well... you might wanna make some." She responded patting my leg before getting up and walking back towards her room. "We leave in the morning!"

I sighed, getting up from the couch, making sure to give Shuri another glare before walking into my room and packing my things.

Somehow Mallory ended up being added to the plans and we were all making our way to my moms house.

Riri sat in the drivers seat, while I was in the passenger seat managing the music. Mallory and Shuri sat in the back seat since I had absolutely refused to sit that close to her for a long period of time.

I immediately started to feel nervous as we pulled into the driveway, while Mallory had enough excitement for us all.

I had no idea how I was going to explain the breakup, especially since Shuri was showing up with us.

My mom stood in the door way, waiting excitedly as we made our way inside.

She squealed the moment we approached her, pulling me into the tightest hug ever.

"Hi mom." I managed to get out, barely being able to breathe.

"Riri! Shuri!" She squealed even more, giving them the same tight hugs that she had just given me.

She was so excited, you would've thought that they were her children too.

She had the biggest smile on her face that suddenly fell the moment she saw Mallory.

"Oh..Mallory, I wasn't expecting you." The obvious shift in her tone made Riri let out a laugh that she was trying to hold in.

She wasn't the biggest fan of Mallory, and everyone knew but Mallory.

"Hey Mrs. Lee" Mallory said enthusiastically, waiting to experience the hug that the rest of us had just gotten, but it never came.

I gave Riri a look, implying that we should probably do something to escape this awkwardness.
