| Hazel |"Ready?" Riri asked as she burst through my room door.
"Sure."
I sighed, grabbing my bag full of things from the bed.
Instead of walking out of the door, she walked inside, closing the door behind her and taking a seat on the bed.
"We're supposed to be going out of the door." I joked.
She patted the space beside her on the bed, making me even more confused.
"Can you just cooperate?" She laughed as I took a seat beside her. "What happened with you and Shuri yesterday?"
My eyes widened at her question. That was not the topic I thought we would be discussing.
I knew she would probably make a big deal out of it, which is the last thing that I wanted, so I went with my usual lie.
"Nothing."
She gave me a look that she always does when she knows I'm lying.
"She was sad when we left and mad when we returned. Something happened."
"Why do you think I have something to do with that?"
She pressed her lips together, crossing her arms over her chest.
"I know you had something to do with it. What happened?"
"We just had a moment." I shrugged, "but it didn't mean anything."
"And you told her that, didn't you?"
"Can we go now?"
I stood up from the bed, pulling her arm so she could stand up with me, but she remained in her spot giving me a disappointed look.
"What?" I groaned already knowing she would take Shuri's side.
"You don't think that was a little harsh? "
"I really just wish that you and Mallory would keep your opinions to yourself and just focus on your own nonexistent relationships."
By the time I could think about what I really wanted to say, the words were already out of my mouth.
We both shared a shocked look.
"Yours doesn't exist either babe, but sure. I'll do that." She responded, giving me a smile even though we both knew she was upset.
I slowly followed behind her out of the room and down the stairs, where everyone was waiting for us to say our goodbyes.
The door closed behind us when I remembered that I had forgotten to do something while we were still here.
"Oh mom, by the way." I said, sticking my head back through the door. "Me and Shuri broke up. A month ago. Love you, bye." I announced quickly before running and hopping in the car, leaving her standing there with a look of surprise on her face.
That was actually easier than I thought it would be.
The car ride home was filled with awkwardness. Everyone remained quiet and there was no music to fill the silence.
I was relieved when we finally made it back to our apartment. I quickly got out of the car and ran up the stairs while everyone else took the elevator.
I just wanted to be alone and locked in my room, which is what I was until a knock interrupted it.
I groaned, peeling myself from the bed and walking over to the door, opening it.
