I stood in the mirror, staring at the bags that sat under my eyes from getting absolutely no sleep last night.

The only thing I could think about was Mallory's words and how much I needed to put distance between Shuri and I again.

Of course that was easier to say than to actually do.

My family was out, doing whatever they do on a normal day, and we had plans on going out and finding something to do with our day.

However, the only thing I wanted to do was crawl back into bed and try to fall asleep.

I finally made my way down the stairs where Riri and Mallory were already standing at the front door looking like they were full of energy.

"You look.... tired." Mallory commented as they both looked at me like this was the worse they've ever seen me.

I rolled my eyes, turning my attention to Riri and Riri only.

We all made the plans, but we were the only 3 standing here, meaning we were missing one.

"Where's Shuri?"

"Upstairs." They answered in unison.

"She's not coming?"

Riri smirked at Mallory, whose only response was an eye roll.

There was their secret language again.

"I don't think so. She didn't look like she was really in the mood."

I should be happy, that would make it easier to put space between us, but I was actually a little disappointed.

My mind told me I probably shouldn't care, but I couldn't help but wonder if it had anything to do with our conversation last night, and if that was the case I felt obligated to be here with her.

I stood there thinking, while they stared at me, not knowing if I should make the choice that I was thinking about making.

"You guys go ahead, I think I'm gonna stay here."

Riri's smirk turned into a big smile as Mallory let out a groan.

"Told you." Riri mumbled as if I wouldn't be able to hear her.

"You told her what?"

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" Mallory asked, completely disregarding my question.

Probably not.

"I think I can handle it."

I probably can't.

"Alright." She let out a sigh of defeat as her and Riri turned and headed out the front door.

I took a deep breath in before heading up the stairs and knocking on the door of the guest bedroom.

After standing there for many minutes and getting no response, I decided to just go in.

She was laying on the bed, looking up at the ceiling. She didn't even acknowledge my presence.

"Hey.." I whispered, gently closing the door behind me.

She turned her head to look at me, giving me a small smile then returning her focus to the ceiling.

"You okay?" I asked, walking over and sitting on the edge of the bed.

"I thought you left already."

Apparently no one was hearing my questions today.
