Hush little baby, don't say a word,
Papa's gonna buy you a mockingbird.

Annie jumped out of her seat, startled by a knock on the window. The car had come to a stop, the road was no longer paved, she noticed. Tom wasn't on the driver's seat either. The door was opened from the exterior and Annie sloppily unbuckled her seat belt still.

She shivered remembering her encounter with her wolf and her dreams before that.

Darkness was surrounding her, she walked nervously to the clearing that had become a battlefield. The moonlight shone over the pools of blood on the ground. Her heart pounded worriedly. Her vision wince until her eyes met Tom's twisted body on the back of a werewolf. The beast was screaming, a blade was pressed deep under its armpit. It fell face first when the same knife cut the beast behind the knee. Tom sliced its ligaments around the arms and legs. He was making sure to delay his healing abilities as much as he could.

Running out into the open, another wolf charged at him jumping above him. Then she hear it. An animalistic growl, it was coming from her own throat making her whole body shiver.
It had never happened before. Phil, his wolf tutor had never warned her about it. It wasn't supposed to happen.

Her clawed hand dripped with blood and the werewolf hung impaled on a branch. The animal screamed struggling to free itself. The hybrid snarled at her with defiance.

Annie roared back at it, her eyes, surrounded the area. All the werewolves were bloody and unable to fight for a few minutes. Her body shifted and moved to a human shape on the ground. It was the informant. The men that was supposed to deliver her information about her father's whereabouts . He was dying in his own blood.

A thunderclap split the sky, lightning flashing across the forest. Annie flinched.

Tom checked the informant. "The informant's close to death. This, everything was for nothing."

She didn't blink. "He can't die. He has something I need."

"Your father?"

She nodded, eyes hard. "Do you know a healer?"

Then a hand fluttered across her cheek. Her eyes widened. Annie was leaning next to the dying men. Her eyes went backwards as images, faces and places she had never seen before entered her mind.

They were not hers, but his. That was his magical power: to show what he saw with such details that the person on the other end could hear and see everything as if he had been there himself.

Dad? Annie wondered.

Following her word as a command, the images moved again and stopped in a specific moment. There was a man sitting on a silver throne bruised all over his body.

No, she thought the image zoomed in. The man is chained to it. The image changed revealing more details that she had remembered last time. No human could survive the horror his body had been through. His skin was scorched and lacerated in many places. His body seemed frail threatening to break.

Who is he? Annie asked to herself.

The vision moved forward, "we found your daughter, she is alive." The informant whispered into his ear. The weak men smilingly dead until then opened his eyes revealing his pupils dancing between the gray and the green.

These eyes, Annie recognized them because she had the same.

DAD? The word got caught in her throat.
