Sorry for not updating for a while, I've been insanely busy.
But here it finally is! The moment of the truth...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have you ever experienced that moment when you're absolutely lost for words, but you can practically here the clock ticking, waiting for your reply.Yeah, well, that's me right now.
"Uh, well you see, I um, it's just..." I stammered on, as Alec's face grew more amused by the millisecond.
"Look, I'm just saying, never spoken to you in my life. And honestly babe, I've never really noticed you either, but hey, I'm always open for new experiences. Just say the words and I'm all yours for a night" Alec said with a wink.
At first, I must admit, I was taken aback. It felt like a light blow to the stomach knowing he didn't even know who I was, let alone doesn't even at least recognise me from the past six years I'd been here.
Then, I understood what he was saying towards the end.
The blush that crept onto my face could have been seen from a mile away.
"What?! Ew no! Are you- I can't believe- Why would you even- No!" I flustered.
Then suddenly a shout, and a bang of a door followed by laughter and more shouts was heard coming from the entrance of the locker room.
Oh god, I thought to myself. Today just isn't my day.
Football practise was over, the boys were coming in for their showers.
"Oh my goodness, mother of all things holy I'm damned" I spluttered.
"Whoa where did that come from" Alec questioned, the corner of his mouth twitching upwards ever so slightly.
"I don't know... I'm not even religious" I managed to say between my frantic head turns as I searched for an escape.
"Well looks like I'll be heading off then" Alec said, preparing himself to walk away.
I grabbed his arm in a blur of a movement.
"You can't leave me here!" I whisper shouted. "Hide me!"
He looked at me for a millisecond, yet it felt like a millennium.
"Alright then, I've got nothing better to do" he answered finally.
I almost physically sighed out of relief but then thought better of it. I'd sound like a weirdo!
Alec opened a cupboard and I flinched back automatically.
"I am not going in there!" I whispered frantically, disgusted.
The cupboard reeked of feet and sweat and I swear I could smell a hint of fish... Just a slight hint, but it was definitely there.
"Fine then, be publicly humiliated and shamed for being the girl found in the guys locker room" Alec stated nonchalantly.
"It's the last day of school" I replied. "I don't think that's enough time for that title to get around."
"Whatever suits you then" Alec said, shutting the cupboard.
The voices were growing and my mind was racing. I looked at the cupboard, a sneer on my face.
"Urgh! Fine, I'll get in there" I said reluctantly.
I swung open the door and jumped in just in time. The voices had arrived at their destination.
"Alec! Hey what's up? You missed football training" one of the guys said, I recognised his voice as Matthew, one of Alec's best mates.
"Beat up Jeremiah" Alec stated proudly. I could hear the smugness in his voice clear as day.
My eyes rolled automatically.
The group of wild, testosterone filled boys whooped with laughter and I could hear the slaps and they collided with Alec's back, cheering him greatly.
If anything, it was over exaggerated.
As the noise died I heard a guy speak, and I was suddenly filled with an immense fear.
"Hey Matthew, can you get me a towel out of the cupboard, thanks mate!"
That one request, was the death of me.
The door was yanked back and Matthew appeared, oblivious to the fact the I was in there, but not for long.
As he searched for a clean towel, emphasise clean and searched, he spotted me and his eyes grew wide.
"Well what do we have here?" He shouted, loud enough for every guy to turn their heads towards me.
I never did like attention.
"Spying on the guys huh? I bet you like a good show" Matthew snickered.
"What no! I was just- well you see- it was Alec!" I flustered. I seemed to stutter a lot lately.
"Alec! Alec brought you in here?!" He started to guffaw.
I searched around, my eyes darting from face to face. I couldn't spot Alec anywhere.
He left me. That son of a.....
I jumped up out of the cupboard and went to make a dash by I was held back by the wrist.
"Where do you think your going?" Matthew choked out between laughs.
"Just let me get out of here and, hey presto, this never happened. We can forget all about it" I tried with fake enthusiasm.
"Oh no, I don't think that could happen, you see, you've invaded our privacy. We can't just forget that, can we?" A boy from the crowd mocked.
"Let's take a group photo to remember this moment" another joked.
As Matthew pretended to look around for his phone, he let go of my wrist, and I took that as my chance.
I dodged him as I made a run for the door. I sprinted as fast as the heels would let me. Not that fast but I had to try.
Most of the guys were too busy laughing and making a fool out of me, they didn't have a chance to catch me.
I ran straight to the door and shoved it open with an ear splitting bang as it hit the wall behind it. The guffawing laughter coming from behind me echoed through my ears.
As I continued to run, I ran past Jess. It took me a couple of seconds to process the fact that I'd passed her.
I slowed to a stop and stepped backward slowly until I was standing next to her.
"Hi" I painted out.
"WHAT HAPPENED?!" Jess shouted, then lowering her voice "Tell me everything."
As I filled her in on the events of the lunch time, the bell rang. We walked to class side by side whilst she revelled over the fact that I was with Alec.
"What was it like? Him touching you, you having a conversation with him." She questioned, a dazed look in her eyes.
"It was nothing, literally. It was hardly even a conversation" I defended, wanting to get off the topic.
She looked at me with and amused gleam in her eye.
"If this weren't the last day of school, you would so be dead for the rest of the year because of what happened in there" Jess teased.
"Don't even remind me" I said as I rolled my eyes.
I had a feeling what happened today, though, was indeed going to come back to bite me in the rear. And I'd pay.
I'd pay.
