Diluc wakes up and gets dressed, tying his red hair into his signature low ponytail and heads out of his room
"Master Diluc, I got a letter sent by Master Kaeya," a maid said as he walks up to her and takes the letter
"Thank you, Adelinde," Diluc says as she walks away
Why didn't Kaeya give this to him in person? He read the letter and was surprised to read that the traveler was coming back to Mondstadt
He hasn't seen Aether and Paimon in such a long time. They have been traveling in search for his twin sister, Lumine
Diluc smiles softly, and shakes it off when he heads out of his home, walking towards the gates of Mondstadt
He was about to head into the Angel's Share, but was stopped by a hand placed on his shoulder
"Hmm?" Diluc turns to see his brother smiling, making Diluc upset
Kaeya: Have you gotten the letter?
Diluc: Couldn't you have told me in person yourself?
Kaeya: True, but we weren't so sure if this was going to be true
Diluc: Fine! Well, I have to go
Diluc goes inside the tavern, seeing Charles handling everything well, except for one customer
"Sir, you had enough drinks!" Charles says as the bard hiccups, "I had not had enough!"
"Let me," Diluc says as he grabs the drunken bard and takes him outside behind the tavern
"Oh for Barbatos' sake! What the hell?!" Diluc curses as Venti snaps from his drunken daze, "You called?"
Diluc: No! Why are you here again?!
Venti: Your exclusive wine! I heard Charles made a new drink, so I wanted to try it out
Diluc: Did you know the traveler is coming?
Venti: Huh? He is? Well, good! I knew he was coming
Venti prances away as Diluc sighs and sees the girl dressed in red run out of the gates
"Oh! Seems like he has arrived," Kaeya says as he walked past his brother
Diluc walks with him as they met the young traveler with his companion, and both waved as the girl in red hugged him
"Aether! You're back! And Paimon!" She smiles as Paimon chuckles, "That's right, Amber! We're here because we heard some things were going on here!"
Aether looks behind Amber and waves at the 2 behind
"Diluc, Kaeya! Are you two getting along well?" Aether asks as Paimon shakes her head, " I doubt it."
Both brothers cross their arms as Kaeya lets out a forced laugh, while Diluc grunts and looks away
"Well, I must get going, I have to patrol the area, and weirdly, not many hilichurls have showed up," Amber says as she runs towards the open fields
"That's why we're here, actually," Paimon says as Aether nods in agreement
"Talk with Diluc, I'm sure our Darknight Hero knows a thing or two," Kaeya chuckles, making Diluc growl with anger as he walks away, leaving the traveler alone with Diluc
"So, any clues?" Aether asks as Diluc takes him towards the Dawn Winery for a private conversation
Diluc: No, I haven't found anything, but it seems odd for them to not show up at night
Paimon: Even slimes don't appear?
Diluc: No. I have the feeling it has something to do with the Abyss Order
Aether: Damn it!
Paimon: Errr...
Diluc: I know, it's not normal for this to be happening, but I'm going to investigate it myself tomorrow night
Aether: Would you like for us to come with you?
Diluc: No need. You two traveled far to visit us, and y'all need some rest
Paimon: Ooh! Thanks, Master Diluc! Aether, why don't we go to the Cat's Tail? I heard there's an event going on, and they'll be snacks!
Aether sighs and walks out of Diluc's home, waving goodbye as Diluc looks to see a scroll, hidden underneath the benches outside
"Hmm?" He ponders and takes the scroll, goes inside, and opens it
To his surprise, it was written by the Abyss, and he looks through his books to translate the message
"Come alone, Darknight Hero, or your precious city will go down," he reads as he growls and goes inside his room
He takes out his claymore weapon, a big sword he used to wield when he was with the Knights back then
He places it on his back and the sword vanished
He runs to Mondstadt, seeing everyone was doing alright, for now
Kaeya, from his room in the Favonius Headquarters, sees Diluc was looking around with worry
It seems they have spoken, Kaeya thought as he figured the Abyss finally is going to make their move
Diluc goes inside the tavern, whispers something to Charles, and heads out
He takes the scroll from his home and heads to the location the Abyss ordered for him to go, and stays standing looking at the view of a lake at Windrise, waiting for the night to fall
