-reader's pov-
the horses pulled the carriage down the bumpy cobbled streets, the carriage rocking and swaying madly. with tewkesbury, enola and I all cramped up inside.
"just to be clear as to what we might be about to face.." tewkesbury piped up.
"there may be some violence." enola shrugged, "you've faced it before."
"-yes." tewkesbury replied meekly, "I did have part of a suit of armour on. but yes, fighting will be.." he chuckled dryly, "-yes."
"you've been in a fight before?" enola questioned, her and I growing suspicious of why he was so nervous.
"-yes, plenty of fights." he quickly answered, "fenced for my school."
"mm." enola hummed in satisfaction.
"-fine, can you teach me to fight?" he gave up on lying.
"pfft, knew it." I laughed whilst adjusting myself in my seat.
"you want me to teach you how to fight right now in a carriage?!" enola exclaimed in disbelief.
"-it couldn't be too hard," I replied, "I taught you how to dance in five minutes in a bathroom."
"hm, true.." enola recalled the events of that past evening before repositioning herself to sit across from tewkesbury, beside me.
"okay now," she began, clenching her hands into fists, "there are two secrets to fighting. avoid the punch, make the counterpunch."
"I don't see how two secrets-" tewkesbury started but was cut off by a blow to the stomach.
"your first lesson." enola said as I tried my best to stifle giggles.
"ow," tewkesbury groaned which only caused enola to punch his cheek harshly, "ow!"
"your second. you didn't avoid the punch." enola scolded, "you let me make the counterpunch."
"-you can hardly expect me to hit a girl!" tewkesbury exclaimed.
"oh dear." enola chuckled before making an even harder punch to tewkesbury's face, this causing the urging giggles to escape my lips.
"ow! stop!" tewkesbury demanded as enola continued to punch at his face, "will you stop that!?-"
"-see? girls can hit too." I teased as tewkesbury rubbed his cheek to wash the pain away.
"-oh shut up." he said jokingly, a happy grin upon his lips.
"in your dreams, mate." I replied smugly, earning a hearty chuckle from enola.

the carriage eventually pulled up outside the paragon theatre and we all pondered inside the empty building. an eerie atmosphere was about as I gazed around the deserted room, it was all dark with little light shining through the windows.
enola held the sheet of paper up to her eyes, "X marks the spot." she lined the paper up to the arch window ahead, which is where we headed over to next.
enola walked to a certain seat and felt around in the pouch underneath it. she pulled a folder of paper from it but was quickly distracted by the new face in the room, "sarah." she said.
"it's all there." a young woman announced, "all the proof we need."
enola straightened out the papers a little more and peered down at it, "the contract between lyon and mcintyre to change the phosphorus."
the woman removed the large, blonde wig she wore to reveal flowing ginger hair.
"what william stole for you," enola dug through the papers even more, "and the pages from the factory register. that's what you stole from the office. these are the names of the girls they killed.." enola continued to flick through the pages.
"I couldn't let 'em be forgotten." the young woman I'm guessing was sarah said.
"and it's proof that match girls are dying from working in that factory, and they knew it all along." enola spoke as she walked down from the row where the seat was.
"you're a bloody good detective, enola holmes." sarah complimented.
"you are too, sarah chapman." enola replied proudly.
"-I will share this with the world, I promise." tewkesbury added with a nod.
"thank you." sarah smiled, "now we really must find william. he was supposed to meet me six hours ago."
a deafening silence then lingered about, everyone shared that all knowing look of sorrow.
"I'm afraid william won't be coming." sherlock finally said, sadness detectable in his voice.
the look of defeat that clouded sarah's eyes made my heart ache. it was obvious she loved william and he had been murdered all because he was trying to make an effort to a good cause.
"what?.." sarah trembled.
"I'm sorry.." I trailed off, understanding how sarah currently felt.
"I'm sorry." tewkesbury sighed deeply.
enola then reached over to hug her, "I'm so sorry." she apologised with her arms wrapped around sarah.
sarah struggled to fight back the tears that begged to slip, "I told him we had everything we needed.." enola broke from the comforting hug, "that we should just go public.. he said nobody would care unless we had someone in power who would listen.. he was just trying to keep me safe." a single tear smoothly rolled down her cheek, "and now I've lost him."
"we must move quickly, or we'll lose you too." sherlock announced.
"loosing this.." a loud voice suddenly boomed out, we all turned to see grail stalking over, "losing that."
once he was in full view, a young girl became noticeable. grail had a sharp knife held to her neck as she whimpered, "seems you've lost everything."
"bessie!" sarah exclaimed as everyone was taken aback at this horrendous sight.
"you've all been very careless.." grail continued as he walked closer, armed men making their way over from different entrances, "especially you miss l/n," he tutted, the sound echoing, "you wouldn't have to be in this unfortunate situation right now if you'd just done as you'd been told."
one of the armed men held a gun to sherlock's head, one a knife to tewkesbury's neck and the other a gun pointed at my temple.
"I'll take those." grail gestured over to the papers.
"let go of her." enola angrily demanded.
grail only pressed the blade closer to the little girl's neck, "give me those papers and I will."
enola approached grail carefully, holding the papers out to him. grail reached his free arm out to grab them but before he could, bessie bit down of his hand with a lot of force.
grail yelled out in pain and the man with a gun to sherlock's head fired but sherlock acted before him.
this conundrum caused the man with a gun to my head to believe it'd be best if he fired too. but before he could even lay a finger upon the trigger, I grabbed his raised arm and gave it a hard twist until I heard a cracking noise.
the man howled in pain as I proceeded to knee him in the stomach. once he had toppled to the ground, I booted him in the face with as much force as possible before snatching his pistol and sprinting off, I knew more men would be after me very shortly.
