-reader's pov-

I pondered the grand hall again, snooping around whilst not paying much attention to anything. I was fairly content until I felt a light tap on my shoulder, I turned around to find a boy. his dance card held out and he wore a smug grin across his face.

"would you care to dance with me later?" he asked, his voice sounding very posh and irritable.

I looked him up and down, an unsure look spreading upon my face, "um.. no thanks." I awkwardly pursed my lips before walking away, as far from him as possible.

as I continued to dawdle around, the boy that enola was eyeing earlier caught my eye. he seemed very busy with all the girls that crowded around him, but honestly I didn't see any handsomeness on him. nevertheless, I decided to approach him, he noticed me walking over and stopped speaking with all the girls to fix his gaze upon me.

"oh hello, correct me if I'm wrong," he began politely, "but were you the young lady talking with enola earlier?"

"-oh, yes. that was me." I quipped with a small smile.

he happily returned the smile before speaking up again, "are you two friends?"

"um.." I hesitated, "I guess so." I technically was still meant to be hunting enola down but that had all gone to rubbish.

"ah, nice to hear." he beamed, "her and I are friends too, I guess." he replied but I felt a pair of eyes burning into my back. I didn't necessarily want to turn around but I did anyways.

I craned my neck around slightly to find enola watching from a distance, she angrily bit into her cake but hid away once she saw me looking.

the boy chuckling pulled my attention back to him, "tewkesbury, by the way. lord tewkesbury of basilwether."

I stifled a giggle at this ridiculous name, "y/n l/n, lord of nothing but it was nice meeting you, tewkesbury."

"it was nice meeting you too." he smiled before returning to the girls who begged to dance with him again.

"ladies and gentlemen, please take your partners for the last waltz." a male voice suddenly announced loudly.

I backed off to the sides of the hall as the dancers entered the centre. I instantly spotted enola approaching her partner, the man she needed information from.

the two met and he avoided eye contact as she followed the steps I had taught her. a dramatic waltz tune then played from the orchestra as the couples started their dance. I saw the two speaking to eachother as they waltzed about, it was a pain I couldn't lipread.

————————

the dance had now ended long ago and there was no sign of enola, or tewkesbury for that matter. the grandfather clock struck midnight with a loud tick and just a few seconds later, a line of police officers exited a certain room. I looked over to find that the first officer was escorting a handcuffed enola from the room, the police had obviously caught up with her about the whole murder incident.

enola noticed me amongst the crowd and we shared a look that was full of worries and concerns.

I had to return to grail, he wouldn't be pleased that I didn't manage to capture enola by myself but it would be the only way to get in contact with enola again.
