The way Charlie met Eve and Heather Keaton still confuses the three of them to this day. It felt like one day the two had just been slugging around all summer and then the next they were spending ample amounts of time at the obese man's apartment. But that was really only half of the story.

Eve and Heather had moved into their apartment two days prior and Heather had somehow conceived her to come with her as they introduced themselves to neighbors. It was overall very boring and most of the people who lived there were either major druggies that couldn't afford anywhere better, old couples who had spent their retirement money, or Charlie.

The two sisters had visited about half of the residents in the apartment complex when they arrived at Charlie's. They knocked on the door and it seemed to startle whatever residence lived there. They heard a sharp and loud breath, a bang, and then faint sounds of choking. As soon as the younger girl heard it, Eve immediately began panicking and begging Heather to get them in there somehow.

Heather began to try and knock the door down as Eve searched for a key. Eventually, Eve had found the key "cleverly" hidden under to doormat of the the apartment. She quickly pushed her older sister back and jammed the key into the door handle. After frantically turning the key back and forth and shaking it in the keyhole, the door opened and as the two rushed in they were met with the sight of the morbidly obese man choking on the floor, with his walker next to him.

Eve wasted no time trying to get the food out of his airway. She did everything her book told her to do in a situation where she couldn't perform the heimlich. She grabbed the nearby walker and with the help of Heather, got the obese man to lean on it. She told Heather to support his chest with her arm as Eve couldn't reach his chest from behind him, Heather did as told and Eve stood behind him and leaned him forward. Afterwards she hit him five times between his shoulder blades with the palm of her hand. However it didn't work and he kept choking.

Eve felt herself panic for a moment. She didn't know why but in her mind that if she wasn't able to help the man in front of her she would never be able to make it as a real doctor. She looked around for something to help dislodge whatever was in the man's windpipe but when she saw nothing her heart rate got faster and her hands shook intensely. Eve then shut her eyes for a moment and took a deep breath. When an idea came to her head she opened her eyes and smashed her elbow in between the older man's shoulder blades. Heather's eyes widened but she silently hoped that it would work. Luckily for them on the 5th blow using her elbow the bone of the wing he was eating flew out of his mouth.

As the man wheezed slightly he thanked the girls, also telling them his name was Charlie. After everything had calmed down the two sisters finally got a good look at not only the man they had saved but at the apartment he lived in. Heather noticed the big couch with an obvious dent on one side of it, Heather didn't want to seem rude but she assumed that was the side the man usually sat on. The couch was beaten up to the point where the color that was once a darker gray turned light and the legs looked as if they were about to give out if a feather were to land on it. The quilts that laid on it were in much better condition, as if they weren't used and were more for decoration, it was like something their mother used to yell at them for moving.

In front of the couch there was a roller table that had an old looking laptop on it and a coffee table with wrappers and garbage all over it. The kitchen in which they had found Charlie, had food all over the counters, as if the man had been binge eating right before they came. The fridge had photos and magnets scattered all over. She noticed how in most of the photos there was a man along with a skinner looking Charlie. Heather's eyes were then drawn to another photo. It was one of a young redheaded girl at the beach, freckles adorned her skin like constellations and she was smiling widely. Heather wondered who the girl was to this man but decided to not ask.
