You should be terrified

Innocent we were, merely seven in years,
As we witnessed the City of Glass shatter,
Its shards sharper than any known fears,
Our perfect illusion, nothing but chatter.

Family name meant nothing in this plight,
Even our kin turned their eyes away,
Pretending to love us with all their might,
But with disgust and sorrow, they did betray.

The pain of reality we chose to ignore,
For the dream of a loving family was better than this,
But cursed at birth, we were nothing more,
And love for us, no one would ever show.

When they came, we heard their footsteps pound,
Mother gave us up with a relieved smile,
Izzy's screams were a symphony's sound,
As they separated us, it felt like a trial.

In the dark, I found my sweet reprieve,
Comforting and familiar, like an old friend,
As shadowhunters came, ready to thieve,
My sister's screams writhed till their end.

But the shadows spread, consuming their souls,
Veins formed on their hands, spreading up to their necks,
Until they were nothing, darkness took their tolls,
A divine guardian, our savior, it protects.

The shadows weren't ours, but a blessing bestowed,
By a protector, watching us from above,
And in that darkness, we felt unburdened, unowed,
A blissful relief, like a mother's loving glove.

The shadows weren't ours, but a blessing bestowed,By a protector, watching us from above,And in that darkness, we felt unburdened, unowed,A blissful relief, like a mother's loving glove

"You will not hurt me" Clary reassured herself, eyes connected to Nathaniel, who watched her with amusement, licking his lower lip before they widened into a smirk.

"Clarissa, Clarissa..." his dark voice was just above a whisper "You have no idea what I've been through" by the tone of his voice, she didn't want to find out too.

"No, no, I know you" Clary insisted, her voice cracking as she tried to reach him "You make yourself out to be a heartless monster, but you're not" she didn't know if she was telling him that or if she was telling herself.

There was a low chuckle, his head tilted to the side as he looked down to her "No, I'm afraid I'm just the regular type of monster" and she took a step back as a red ring formed around his irises, like fire.

"You need me, y-you will be punished if you hurt me, won't you?"

Nathaniel sighed, his eyes finding interest into his daggers as he raised them up, humming as he analyzed them in deep appreciation, they were a gift from Morgana after all.

"You don't seem to understand your place" His sentence was enough for Bak, the shapeshifter demon, to hit Clary across the chest with her hand open and send her flying backwards.

The ginger gasped as the air left her lungs, her ribs cracked under the pressure and she blinked quickly, her vision fuzzy.

"Since you have entered in our lives, you have disrespected my family, disrespected my fiancée and tried to put her in danger more times than I can count" one of his daggers cut through the air, the sound was like a piece of paper being gently cut, but there was no gentleness when the dagger impaled her left shoulder.

His head slowly raised and there was a smirk akin to a hyena, when they know they have won the hunt "I won't tolerate anyone ever disrespecting her - so I'm afraid you're very very wrong Clarissa, I will hurt you" his combat approached her "I'll torture you until you finally put in that little head of yours that you will never be anything when compared to her"

His fingers wrapped around the handle of the dagger and he stabbed her between her ribs and twirled it inside, begging for the angels to help her as she cried, how could someone be so cruel to her?

"You didn't want to be a Shadowhunter, Clarissa? Then you need to know some rules: Rule #1 - know your fucking place" And Clary didn't know if it was the blood loss or if she was actually seeing dark veins forming from where the daggers had cut through her skin, she was only sure of one thing - she could die right there, would anyone care at all?

Another scream ripped through her throat, the air left her lungs, the dagger was suddenly ripped from her ribs and she didn't take a moment to breath as it reached her neck, drawing blood.

"I wonder if you continue in that pedestal you have put yourself onto if I give you some scars..." his grin was manic as the dagger made a cut through her cheek "Hey Bak, would you do the honors?"

The demon walked closer to them, her face stoic, fingers turning to talons as she waited for the orders "Where do we want to carve her?"

Nate took a step back, letting the demon approach the other Shadowhunter, as her talons wrapped around her neck, and Clary screamed as she felt her skin burn.

"Mmhmm, what are your thoughts Bak?" The Lightwood questioned and Bak grinned, she was a dark one, and by her answer Nate knew exactly why she was one of Mora's favorites.

"We should cut off her hands, for trying to touch what wasn't hers, we should rip out her eyes, for lusting over someone that already has someone, we should rip out her tongue, for speaking bad of the mistress of Shadows, then we should leave her, to know that if she is alive it's because we allowed her to"
