Never had a room before felt so familiar yet so different simultaneously... it was shockingly similar to another they already knew, but with just enough differences to leave a feeling of uneasiness in Alex's chest.
"Wha-?!" he interjected.
"How on earth-?" Adam gasped.
The room had a dim light hung from the roof, which like the library, was just barely brightening the area up, but this time it was even weaker and flickered a lot. The walls were grimy and cracked, the floor was a cold, cobbly mess, and on both the left and right, six doors on each end could be found, and they all looked rather high-tech and could be individually unlocked with the use of an ID card.
This room... was another cell block, like the same one they all woke up in, but much darker and harsher.
Adam and Alex realised this immediately once their eyes had adjusted to the poor lighting. But, as they were busy comprehending the facts before themselves, the doors behind them slammed swiftly shut, followed by the sound of Fate's voice sounding through the speakers once more.
"Gah, what the fuck?! We're locked in!" Alex shouted.
"Calm down, kid! Fate can't trap us in here," Adam stated certainly as he scratched the back of his head, suggesting he may have been bluffing.
*CONGRATULATIONS ARE IN ORDER. YOU HAVE NOW ENTERED THE ROOM WHERE THE INFORMATION I REFERENCED HAS BEEN HIDDEN. I COMMEND YOUR BRAVERY TO STUMBLE THIS FAR.*
"Get to the point, Fate!" Alex shouted, to which Adam replied:
"There's no point in trying to talk to them, the audio and video we hear are pre-recorded."
"Wait, huh-?"
Before Alex could grasp what Adam had told him, Fate continued their speech.
*THIS ROOM WAS A RATHER OBVIOUS PICK, GIVEN IT IS WHERE SOME OF YOU WILL HAVE STARTED. BUT, TO TELL THE TRUTH: I WANTED YOU TO FIND THE INFORMATION I HID. AND SO, PLEASE CHECK THE ROOMS USING YOUR ID CARDS.*
"Wait, what? OUR ID cards?" Alex puzzledly questioned.
*YOU CAN NOT LEAVE UNTIL YOU HAVE FOUND THE INFORMATION. GOOD LUCK, AND HAVE FUN.*
Fate's presence once again ceased, followed by a short silence as Adam and Alex were attempting to comprehend all they had just stated, as there were definitely some questionable points brought up in their speech.
"How curious," Adam quietly stated, seemingly talking to himself.
"What was? Maybe we have the same damn questions..." Alex annoyedly replied.
"Well, what I find most absurd is what Fate said regarding us," he lightly chuckled in curiosity, "they said 'given it is where some of you will have started.' That's odd because none of us started here. All 12 of us started in the OTHER cell block, not this one."
"Maybe Fate made a mistake here? I dunno... it doesn't make sense," Alex sighed in defeat.
"Hmm... well, either way, it is curious how there are two different cell blocks, given there were only 12 of us to begin with. This facility has the capacity for 24," Adam commented with his fingers on his chin.
"It's very weird..." Alex pondered.
"Why is there not a second Living Quarters then...? 24 cells but only 12 rooms doesn't make sense."
"In any case, we gotta use our ID cards on these cells, right?" Alex asked.
"That's right. We can dwell on our worries later with the others."
