No one was the same after Dong-Wook. He had a way of getting underneath your skin. It was a feeling you got when you were around him that you couldn't shake. For Jimin and Runa that was safety. It was a love that didn't need to be put into words. A love that could be seen in the way he looked at both of them with a fatherly pride neither of them took for granted.
It sunk in the night after his death. When she demanded to see his body even if the wound was still fresh. Her brother knew better than to defy her. Alrhough he couldn't stomach to see him again, he knew why she wnated to. It would be the last time before he was buried. She wanted to see him again so she wouldn't forget how he looked.
Jungkook was surprised she didn't want to be alone and rather asked him to be there with her. It was probably an hour of her muttering to Dong-Wook, his decaying body lying on the cold metal of a table. She ran her hands through his hair, dried out from being carefully washed jusg like yhe rest of him was. It was tradition for all members to be taken care of and buried in a special place.
It hirt seeing him like that. No smartass remarks, no glares, no more of him calling her "kid" even when he knew how much it ticked her off. She still loved it. She missed hearing him call her name, and even now that he's buried six feet below, she swears she still hears his boice in the halls. His presence had bled into the walls and echoed like that of a restless spirit.
It was much more painful than she ever showed. Somehow she managed to use that as a weapon and mistakenly cut those around her. She was cold to her brother, practically ignoring him and staying in her office most of the time until something else happened or a plan had been made. Jungkook was a victim of it too.
He understood that she was grieving and even when she wasn't she tended to have a sharpness to her that could be taken in the wrong light. He didn't resent her for it but that doesn't mean he wouldn't fight to bring her back.
A few too many screws were loose in her head and he'd be the one to shake her out of...whatever it was she was trapped in. A nightmare? Hell that was their life. But it's always the little things that made it worth living. She just needed a reminder and her refusing to eat was his way in. He had to say something.
"Jungkook, I'm not hungry." She repeats for the tenth time, eyeing the plate of food he set down on her desk with disinterest.
The smell had her nauseous and her stomach didn't growl. Even regarding the fact that she hasn't eaten since yesterday her body refused to feel. She was caught in a cycle at this point.
"You've barely eaten anything the past few days. A piece of bread doesn't count. You can't go on like this." He argued, standing close next to her in case he had to cross that line and force her.
"I'm only going to say this once", she glared up at him, her hands remaining on the keyboard, "I'm not hungry and I'm not eating. I can take care of myself."
She then nudged the plate aside so she could continue typing on her computer, but she didn't start doing so yet because his voice interrupted her.
"It sure looks like it."
She rolls her eyes with a heavy sigh, massaging her aching temples with her index fingers. He refused to let anything go and usually she admired him for it but right now every little thing he did ticked her off.
"I'm not in the mood for this, Jungkook. I'm not a child and I don't need you treating me like one."
"I'm not. I'm only trying to help. Refusing to eat? That's not like you."
