Taemin was out of sight but not out of mind. She figured that now he's gone she could stay a while and enjoy the party thrown by her request. Jungkook was off brooding in a corner, keeping an eye out while her and Seokjin conversed in the pool and sipped on bubbly champagne. Once business was done she decided she wouldn't make her bodyguard suffer the social event any linger and bid her friend a goodbye with a kiss on each cheek.
When she turned to get out of the pool, Jungkook appeared out of thin air with a towel, wrapping it around her body and guiding her out of the party and into the hall. On the way back to the estate neither of them said much. She only made it apparent that their plan had worked. Seokjin was now Taemin's ally and stressed that if he needed anything at all he had the means to provide.
Regardless of seeing him tonight she was in a good mood. Maybe it was the alcohol or the prospect of this war ending sooner rather than later. Either way she was on a high that nothing could bring her down from. Not even the somewhat ominous text she received from her brother.
'Bad news. Get home soon.'
She sighs, not thinking much of it until they arrive home and she's now face to face with Jimin and San who look displeased more than anything.
"What is it now?" She asks, standing by the couch instead of sitting where her bodyguard was.
Her brother stood from the desk and circled around to lean against it, his hands on the edge and a brief glance towards the bodyguard that spoke volumes. "Taemin put out a hit on Jungkook."
Her brows scrunch together in disbelief. "How much?"
San gave her a tentative look before speaking out, his fidgety hands running through his faded pink hair. "Ten million."
Runa laughed mirthlessly. "Is he serious?"
Her brother pressed his lips into a thin line, unsure of what to say and how to fix this before it became a bigger problem than what they could manage. No one had attempted anything yet but its only a matter of time. But her? She's not worried. She knows she doesn't have to be.
"Guys, lighten up. We kill Taemin and the contract is null and void." She reminds them, her brother's face shifting incredulously.
"You're right but how soon can that be?"
"After losing the safehouse and the drugs he has no where to run to. No one else to help him. It's only a matter of time before he seeks out refuge from Seokjin. He might've just met him but he'll be desperate."
"I take it everything went as planned on your end?" Jimin inquired, earning a nod in which loosened the strain on his stiff shoulders.
"Alright. We'll bide our time and wait for Jin to give us the green light. Until then I don't think it's a good idea for you to do any business in the city until the bounty on Jungkook is dealt with."
"Agreed. I'll talk to my men and see if they can scout anybody suspicious and deal with them just to be on the safe side."
Jimin agrees. "That's smart. I'll do the same."
A beat of silence settles in the room before San breaks it, confusion written on his face as he glances between the couple. "Why aren't you guys worried about this bounty? You know every assassin in the city is gonna come looking for him."
