Heavy is the head that wears the crown. It's an old saying Runa thinks she can relate to now that Min-Su is gone and she's in charge. The gangs were tearing into each other, whispers in the streets of who killed her father which she all brought to silence when she met with the problematic leaders and replaced anyone who uttered a word against her.
This was her time now. If they couldn't accept that and get with the program they would surely suffer the consequences for their ignorance. Within a matter of days, business was back to its usual and she had sent word to their allies overseas of what had happened. They made up a story, already having their scapegoat which was an ex-assassin. The world wouldn't miss him. He was a known rapist and drug dealer and once they fabricated that lie and everyone drank it up, it seemed to clear any confusion or doubt regarding Min-Su's death.
Once Jimin revealed himself as an ally, keeping their relations a secret, things became much easier not having to hide their involvement anymore. People didn't gossip about the sudden changes, most of them going on with their lives as usual seeing as this would only make things less stressful. Having a tight-knit circle with the few people she could trust made all the difference for business and her peace of mind. Runa did her part as a leader, reassuring everyone under her control that things would be changing from now on.
One of the most important people to discuss this with was Yoongi's father, the head of the Min family, and her father's dearest friend. He called a meeting with her, his underboss San, and his precious son beside him as they discussed Min-Su's death, operations in Long Island, and projects moving forward. She wrapped up her father's business, sending out shipments when necessary and marking her terriroty so the men knew she was in charge and not to be fucked with.
Having Mr. Min support her in all this was a breath of fresh air. She's always liked him and his entire family. They weren't prissy like her father was. They had their traditional ways of course seeing as a woman has never been in charge of any crime family before, but he welcomed it with no hesitation, knowing Runa since she was a little girl. If there were any woman who could change the world it would be her.
It wasn't too surprising considering he had some decency and respect because of the woman he was married to. He and Mrs. Min were a timeless power couple. She was an assassin under the organization and much like her mom and Jimin's dad, their worlds collided one fateful day. She was sent to kill one of the family's traitors, and when Yoongi's father saw her walking out of that club on a stormy night, hands soaked in blood and her leg whipping over that of a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-11 motorcycle, he knew he needed her.
Mrs. Min was a deadly force back then and still is even now. She didn't make it easy for him. She was a prized woman and she walked him like a dog. It was beautiful to grow up and see how their familial love, how badass they were together, and how they created the perfect son to one day rule the empire. Like anyone he had secrets, ones he buried in his closet and locked so they'd never surface. But you know what they say. Secrets are never safe no matter where you put them.
Runa remembers being a little girl and staying over at their house, having to beg her father until he gave in out of sheer annoyance from her pestering. It was a traditional Japanese style with a gazebo outside, a few acres of land that made it look like they were floating at sea when fog would rise and cover the grass late at night. She remembers the smell of the rain and running out by the koi pond, water lilies sprouting to the surface as the orange and white speckled fish swam around and amused her and her best friend.
When she reminisces about the old days being in the presence of Mr. Min, it makes her chest flutter. His utter respect for her, his appreciation, everything was warm and playful and how a father should be, regardless of his position in a criminal organization. Yoongi peers over at her often, the past hitting him as well and he keeps quiet most of the meeting, wondering how he fucked up this badly. Wondering why they couldn't be as carefree now that they had a luxury to much like how it was years ago.
