Being tied to a chair wasn't exactly what Yoongi had in mind for this meeting with his ex. As soon as he's able to open his eyes and adjust to the singular light bulb that shines above his aching head, realization dawns on him. His stomach sinks to the floor and he sighs, already knowing his fate.
You see the contradiction here? Yoongi was incredibly stupid, managed to make some very bad decisions yet somehow he managed to come to terms with the fact that he had been double-crossed. He and his brother for that matter. He knows it's his fault for how things have ended up.
That's why he doesn't struggle. He gives up to the confines that bar his chest and legs. Tight, scratchy rope that he feels digging through the fabric of his dress pants and thin back dress shirt.
Time and time again he ends up back in the same place. Regretting every decision he's made these past few months. Spiralling with regret and an unhealthy thirst for love that he can't quench.
He understands what this is. This was her chance to use him for all he was worth. He had something she wanted more than anything. Taemin. And you know what? He was going to give that to her. He wasn't going to argue, and he was going to put up with whatever insults she threw his way because this is what he deserves. He isn't any better than this.
If Runa wants to tear him apart piece by piece until there's nothing left but picked over bones and shame then so be it. Moments like these really put his life into perspective. What greed does to people and especially the ones like him. The selfish, pitiful exes that try to dig their way back into the life of a lost loved one.
He found her. She never left. Now he's wondering to himself if his brother knew all along and is somehow using him as bait. Being used isn't a good feeling. It makes you feel filthy, disgusting, so ugly. Yoongi is at least logical enough to see the reasons behind it.
He's not a victim and he won't pretend to be either. Everything was of his own making and he's suffering the consequences. He has been for weeks. Time was a cruel thing that many of us never had enough of or at least felt like we didn't. Yoongi needed to think carefully about how this would play out. How he would spend his last moments.
Runa killed her father for the betrayal of her mother, she killed another best friend of hers for an obsession she almost didn't survive, and this would be no different. Taking lives was as easy as doing her nails. She enjoyed it. She wore that ugliness proudly and it only made her more beautiful. More raw.
His throat tightens when she enters the room. He doesn't have to look up from where he's hung his head down to stare at his lap to know its her. It's the smell, the energy she brings into any room she enters. The click of her heels is enough to send a chill rolling up his spine. It's scary to see what things have come to. They were always the ones hurting others but somehow they managed to tolerate how they hurt each other until it crossed a line.
The sweet promise of death comforts him when she moves closer, staring at his slouched figure with nothing but emptiness. A hollow shell of the best friend he took for granted. He knows it'll be slow and painful, he knows what his fate is and yet he's relieved. Loving her is the hardest thing he's ever done and death is the only thing that will set him free.
"You know I can't let you live. You've given me no choice."
"I know." He squeezes his eyes shut, feeling like a coward not looking at her.
