1 month later

Sage bonded with those boys instantly, from that one day after school- Sage became her own person- Sage Levins. Or as she is nicknamed my Dustin Say.

The party sit around the small table in Mike's basement staring intensely at Mike as he spoke.

"Something is coming.. something hungry for blood.. it is here."

"What is it?" Will begs.

"What if its the demogorgon?" Dustin wonders.

"It's not the demogorgon!" Lucas snaps and Sage smirks.

"Do you hear that? That sound, boom..boom.boom the demogorgon!" Mike announces and the party groans.

"Will your action!" Sage yells

"I don't know-"

The bickering between the children continues over if they should risk it with the fireball or cast a protection spell.

"Fireball!" Will shrieks.

The dice rolls off the table as the kids scramble around trying to find it.

"Mike!" Mrs Wheeler calls from the top of the staircase.

Mike runs upstairs to beg his mother for an extra 20 minutes but the boys still pick up all their belongings and make their way to the garage. Dustin and Sage go upstairs to Mike's sisters room.
Nancy Wheeler sits on her bed on the phone, she smiles at Sage and puts her finger to her lips but her smile fades at when Dustin moves towards the door. Usually Nancy would allow Sage into her room to dress her up in her old clothes and makeup while they gossip before she joins Mike in the spare bed that was built especially for her. Instead, Nancy slams the door leaving Dustin humbled.

Sage and Mike show the boys out and watch each of them cycle away. Except for Will.

"It was a seven. The demogorgon.. it got me." The garage light flickers as the two kids make their way to bed.

The next morning, the Wheeler's and Sage all sat down eating breakfast. Nancy was well dressed with her hair and makeup done while her little brother was quite frankly the opposite. Sage smiles at the small girl in her highchair with her missing teeth and blonde pigtails. Sage loved Holly since she was easy to sit quietly with while they read, or play in the garden. Sage has almost become part of their family.

Nancy raises her eyebrows at Mike pouring maple syrup over his eggs.

"That's disgusting" The phone rings and Mrs Wheeler answers while the siblings argue.

"Mike!" Nancy gasps as her brother pours syrup on her eggs.

Sage snatches the syrup from mike and pours it on her pancakes.

"You should be more normal like Sage" Nancy states.

"Oh Joyce, Hi!" Mrs Wheeler says into the phone making Sage look up.

Ms Byers was the kindest woman Sage has ever met. She might stay over often at the Wheeler's since they can get her to school but every Friday Sage goes to Will's house and they play board games and watch movies before she sleeps on their couch.

"Will? No, no. Just Mike and Sage.... no he left here a little big after 8. Why he's not home?"
Sage stares at Mrs Wheeler as she sighs.

"Okay! Grab your bikes and head to school."

Sage and Mike meet Dustin and Lucas as they skate/bike to school and leave their bikes on the rack.

"That's weird.. I don't see him." Mike states as they look around the crowds.

"He must've just went to class early again." Lucas reassures them.

"Step right up ladies and gentlemen!"

A rough voice says and 2 boys come towards them, they didn't notice Sage since she was talking to a girl in their grade about the science homework. She notices the two boys pushing and shoving the boys and she barges past them and glares directly at the main bully, Troy. They laugh awkwardly but quickly move off them.

"Sage you have a superhero glare!" They laugh and make their way to Mr Clarkes class where Will wasn't sitting in his usual class.

They sit until the bell rings and rush up to their teachers desk.

"So? Did it come?" Sage asks excitedly.

"Well kids, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but.. it came!"

The kids cheer and follow him out to the AV room where they spent most of their time after-school.

They gasp at the new equipment in the room.

"Heathkit Ham Shack, ain't she a beaut?"

"I bet you could talk to NYC on this thing!"

"Think bigger.."

"California?"

"Bigger!"

"Australia?" Sage asks and he nods.

They mess around talking in Australian accents.

"Do you eat kangaroos for breakfast!" Dustin exclaims and the kids erupts into laughter.

The laughter dies down when the principal, along with the chief of police come in to borrow the kids.

They all sit on the sofa in the office with Chief Jim Hopper sitting in front of them. The only one not talking was Sage.

"Okay, Okay, Okay. One at a time. You."
He points at Sage.

"He takes Mirkwood home. Where Cornwallis and Kerley meet, you know?"

He mutters something and shuts down the boys as they try to ask to help look. Sage glares at him and he glares back, she huffs and sits back into the chair with her arms folded.
The kids are dismissed and everyone leaves except for Sage. She looks up at the tired officer.

"He's my best friend."

Sage sees the man smile for the first time since she'd met him.

"I'm gonna find him kid."

Sage raises her eyebrows before following her friends out of school.

"Sage, Nancy said that mom said you need to stay over, she doesn't want you walking home alone."

In the boys minds, Sage lives right on the outskirts of town with her father who works 3 jobs since her mother stayed in California.

At dinner, Mike rants and rants about wanting to try and go out looking for Will but Karen Wheeler quickly turns him down.
Nancy sits playing with her food before she speaks.

"So me and Barbara are gonna study at her house tonight, that's cool right?"

"Nope, not cool." Her mother replies.

"Until we know Will is okay, nobody leaves."

The fighting continues until everyone storms off, Mike and Sage go down to the basement and reach Lucas and Dustin on their walkie talkies.

"Meet me in 10, over and out" Lucas says and they pack their bags and sneak out the back door. As they leave they see Nancy's shitty boyfriend Steve Harrington climbing up her window.

The kids make their way to the woods just as the storm starts, the three boys start to argue but Sage stops them when they hear rustling in the woods, the turn around and see a small girl with a shaved heat, soaked to the skin staring back at them. Sage makes her way over and puts her hand on the girls shoulder- she slithers away.

"Are you okay? Guys let's bring her back and get her warm. Then we can figure out what to do." Sage decides sternly.

As Sage and the girl walk in front of the girl doesn't stop staring.

"Seven?"

Sage puts a finger to her own lips.
