Sage lay with her head on Dustin's shoulder, sleeping for the first time in days. As she slept, she found her sister in an underground laboratory, her breath quickened as she walked around following her sister from close behind, her breath hitched as a familiar voice.
"It's alright Eleven... I am here to help."
Sage began to shake as Dr Brenner walked down the creaky steps, standing too close to her sister. Sage attempted to interfere before realising she was in a dream... but this dream was real- Eleven really was with Dr Brenner.
"Where is your sister, I was told Seven would be joining us." Dr Brenner looked up angrily to the man standing behind the sisters, it took a moment for Sage to recognise him, Sam Owens.
"She- um, Seven refused to participate. I tried my hardest but... the loss of her father has ruined her." Owens explains.
Sage holds her breath as Brenner turns to Eleven, who stays frozen for a moment before nodding her head in agreement.
"Dustinn, earth to dustin."
Sage jolts awake and grabs the walkie talkie. "Yeah, it's Sage."
"Hopper! Wonderful, hey- I'm gonna need a food delivery like super soon, unless you want me going into the world." Eddie rambles.
Sage massages her aching head softly as she rolls her eyes. "Yeah, do that and then get caught and put it jail-" She starts.
"Sage." Nancy speaks up in a warning tone. "No, Eddie. Don't do that, just stay where you are and we'll be there as soon as we can."
Eddie starts to ask for beers and Sage turns to roll her eyes at Max- when she realises Max is not in the spot where she left her, curled up on the sofa. Sage rounds on Nancy, tapping her aggresively.
"I'm gonna have to call you back." Nancy says erruptly as the two turn to Dustin.
"Dustin! Aren't you supposed to be on Max watch?" Nancy says aggressively.
Dustin bolts awake rubbing his eyes. "Yep, yep, yep. She's right there." Dustin points at the empty spot on the couch.
"I swear I just dozed off for- an hour."
The three rush upstairs to find Max sitting at the table with Holly drawing pictures, Sage sighs in relief and plonks herself down beside Max- continuing to sooth her throbbing headache.
Sage's mind wanders back to Eleven as Nancy and Max put the pieces back together from Max's drawings, Dustin stares at one confused.
"God we need Will." He groans.
"I tried them again this morning, nothing."
"My sister isn't with them anyway..." Sage says without thinking.
"What is she doing...?" Nancy questions.
"She's um- I'm not really sure but, I think they are okay." Sage lies, not wanting anymore stress on Max.
Max, Dustin and Sage watch in awe as Nancy fiddles with the drawings, turning them into a house- specifically the Creel Home.
--
The group pile out of the car and stand in front of the Creel Home for a moment before Nancy and Steve take the lead, and start to tear apart the boarded up door.
"We don't think Vecna's in here... do we?" Lucas says uncertainly.
"We'll find out..." Nancy says as the last piece of wood falls off the door.
"Seven... what are you doing here."
From the look on Max's face, she heard the exact same thing. Sage slips her hand into Max's softly.
"It's locked." Steve says with a sigh.
"I found a key." Robin says with a smirk, turning slowly to Sage who rolls her eyes.
"Glad to be back in service again." She gritts as she walks towards the door and tilts her head to the left, it swings open.
They walk inside, Sage's heart beating at rapid pace as Max stares at the Grandfather clock.
"You can all see that right?" Max asks quickly.
"Is this what you saw in the visions?" Nancy asks and Max nods.
"Why is he so obsessed with clocks... maybe he is a clockmaker or something?" Steve speaks up.
"I think you cracked the case Steve." Dustin says sarcastically while Sage claps behind them until Nancy slaps her hands away.
"Enough of that." Nancy orders and Sage holds her hands up in defeat.
"Yes Ma'am."
"Everyone split up, Robin upstairs. Sage, I wanna keep an eye on you." Nancy says beckoning to the ceiling.
"What do you think I'm gonna do? Run off and finish this guy off myself?" Sage says as Nancy drags her upstairs.
"Exactly what I think."
--
Sage giggles from the doorframe watching Steve freak out over a spider, she raises her eyebrows at Steve as he blushes when Nancy picks the cobwebs out of his hair. Sage tries to hide the jump she lets out when Robin pops up behind her but it doesn't go unnoticed by Steve and Nancy who exchange a sad look with each other.
"If there is a spider nesting in there we'll never find it until it lays eggs and a bunch of babies pop out." Robin teases.
"Yeah and then not only will you be our babysitter but also a bunch of little itty bitty spiders!" Sage continues with a grin.
"What is wrong with you two." Steve snaps.
Sage floats away laughing alongside Robin and stops suddenly when she notices the lights flickering in the hallway, Max and Lucas join them moments later with the same expression- indicating to Sage that they saw it too, they follow the lights which they realise is Vecna's movement from the upside down all the way up to the attic.
The group watch as the light in the attic gets brighter and brighter, Sage closes her eyes to find Vecna on the other side, his arms and legs connected to the ceiling as if he was collecting every drop of his powers. Sage felt uneasy as a terrifying thought entered her mind.
Who has Vecna taken now...
