"You are lucky all I got was a chunk of that leg." A voice grumbles.
Sage jolts awake, pain shooting down her leg. She rips the duvet cover off and gasps, her leg was torn open again, blood gushing all over Max's bedsheets. Sage tried to hold pressure on the wound but there was so much blood she began to panic.
"Sage! Wake up!" A voice calls out.
Sage snaps out of her thoughts, there was no blood on her leg, just the scar and some sweat... she was okay.
"Nightmares?" Max asks sadly.
"Yeah, you get em too?" Sage asks, she lies back down to face her best-friend.
"Yep, pretty shit right?" Max sighs and looks past Sage, out the window.
Sage's eyes follow and the two stare at the multiple police cars speeding into the trailer park, all heading straight for the trailer across from Max's.
"Who lives there?" Sage asks as they wander out the front door and towards the cars.
"Eddie, Eddie Munson." Max mumbles.
"Eddie, like as in D&D Eddie? Steve told me all about him, he refuses to admit he is jealous of him because he hangs out with the boys more." Sage recalls.
Max clutches Sage's forearm as they make their way closer, Sage feels a wave of grief as she notices Officer Powell... who had replaced her father as the chief. He got to know her pretty well last summer, Sage often came to visit her dad at work and him and Callaghan were one of the few outside her circle to know about the adoption.
Max leans closer and lets out a small gasp, Sage could tell she recognised her but before she could ask a hand grabbed her shoulder. Sage turned to see Billy glaring back at her.
"You shouldn't be out here, back inside."
It takes a moment for Sage to shake off the Billy vision and realise he was just a police officer, Max grabbed her best-friends hand and dragged her back inside.
"That was Chrissy Cunningham, name sound familiar?" She asks.
"Chrissy... like the girl in the year below Steve and Nance? Why the hell is she dead in Eddie Munson's trailer- have the boys been hanging out with a murderer?" Sage panics.
"No! Shh, I have something to tell you, something happened before you got here last night..."
--
Max bangs on the door, a moment later Dustin Henderson opens it. His face changed from confusion to pure joy when he notices his blonde best friend smiling back up at him.
"Say-Say! You are back, I missed you!" He exclaims pulling the shorter girl in for a hug.
"I missed you too Dustin." Sage replies, a hand in his soft curls.
Dustin pulls away a moment later, after holding his hands to her cheeks for a second. It was like his way of letting her know it was all going to be okay... if only Sage could believe him.
"Max... what is that look you are giving me- what is going on... is this about what's on the news?" Dustin's face falls as he brings both girls inside to him room.
"Chrissy Cunningham, dead in Eddie's trailer... are you sure?" Dustin asks again, pacing around.
"Yes, she was in the same uniform I saw her in last night, before Say showed up." Max repeats.
"Did you tell this to the cops?" Dustin questions.
"No, but- I can't be the only one who saw, they stood out. Right now, Eddie is suspect number one."
