Neteyam, my son.

Four fingers tracing lightly on the lighter blue stripes on his face, to his shoulder and body. No word appeared before her in the aftermath, her whole process of this day was that never a single word left the lips of Rasmei. She sat beside his body, gently raising up the blood that had dried on his skin around where his wound was. He got the scar at the same place where he got shot, the scar that looked like star. She remembered when he was only 5 where he fell off the tree with his front body went down first, his chest got a very big cut and the red rushing color of blood was everywhere. Young kid was clumsy but Rasmei still remembered the way he cried to the pain on his chest that he couldn't go to sleep at night or even move himself everywhere. Through the same place, Neteyam got his gunshot wound ten years later but this time, it wasn't only gave him pain but cost him a life.

There was no left for her to cry anymore. It just never came out more, all of the energy of her body has been drained away. That salt stream has lost its way. It was sick with sadness throughout the silence of the pod where Rasmei and only Jake stayed together with the body of their son that has no soul.

But not for Jake, this time he let his emotions pour out of himself. Something that he has never done before and that was the first time that Jake has given up. He has tried, tried his best to hide them down in his gut but it was out of control. His tears dripped down off the corner of his eyes as he ran the cloth gently along Neteyam's legs to clean him off from the sand.

He has been trained to have a very strong mental attitude as a former marine and it showed in the way he always kept going forward no matter what. Rasmei understood this feeling because she has reached this point where she acted like him, tried to be strong and looked to the bright side. Jake was very skilled at staying focused and kept fighting no matter what and he stayed strong for others.

This time he gave up everything.

Inside the ship, he has already thought about death and it broke Lo'ak that he has to witness his dad has lost himself that he shall be the one who told his father to stay focused and glad that Jake did.

Jake felt defeated.

When Grace died, he knew what he needed to do and couldn't simply mourn because he saw Rasmei's wall had broken. When Eytukan died, and Kelutral fell, he was worried about his mate, Neytiri and tried to comfort them as much as he could. When Tsu'tey died, Jake had been given a new role and had to step into the role right away and be there for the clan. He never had time to mourn due to his responsibilities and his guilt which he tried so hard to make things right. Now, Neteyam has died and even then he didn't have time to mourn him. He had to be strong for his family and kept fighting it has always expected him to do. When he was close to giving up, he thought that his family had been all safe because the last time he saw them, they were in the water away from Quaritch and out of danger. When he got rid of Quaritch, Jake thought he had done what it was that gave him meaning; he had protected them. So he almost gave up fighting for his life as theirs were the most important to him and as fast as he knew they were safe. But as he came back to his life once again, what he had expected them to be safe wasn't just like what he thought. Rasmei lost so much blood from her bullet wound, her ankle hurts that she has to be stuck under the ship with Tuk.
