chapter five.

The day came when Jake passed along his Olo'eyktan duties over to Tarsem as the Sully family would be leaving the Omatikaya forever.

Za'nara remained tied up and hidden away during the ceremony, not to be seen by the clan. After the ceremony the family returned to their secret hut and gathered the last of their things. They untied Za'nara and headed towards their ikrans.

"How do you expect me to get there? I don't have an Ikran." Za'nara announced to the family.

"You can ride with Neteyam or Lo'ak." Jake replied.

She looked to both the boys and rolled her eyes.

"Lo'ak." Za'nara announced. "Might make this ride a little less boring at least."

"Whatever." Neteyam replied, mounting his Ikran.

Za'nara jumped on the back of Lo'ak's Ikran.

"Hold on princess." Lo'ak smirked.

"Will you just go already." Za'nara snapped.

"Okay okay, but seriously hold on." Lo'ak replied.

Za'nara wrapped her arms around Lo'aks stomach and they flew off.

The family spent days and nights flying when they finally arrived in the Metkayina.

The landed on shore and hopped off their Ikrans. Before making their way down shore they had to make sure they had their stories straight.

"Okay so we will tell them that Za'nara's family died in a war with the sky people and we took her under our wing. Okay?" Jake said to everyone.

"Yes sir." All the kids replied but Za'nara.

"Za'nara?" Jake turned to her. "This is a chance for a fresh start. Are you with us?"

"Yes sir." Za'nara uttered with an ounce of annoyance in her tone.

"Okay let's go." Jake said gesturing for them all to slowly walk down the shore.

Jake walked down with his hands in the air to show the clan that they come in peace. The family followed behind Jake.

Two boys from the clan walked out infront of Lo'ak and Neteyam. Neteyam and Lo'ak greeted them, gesturing their hands from their head and down.

The boys from the opposite clan began to make fun of the boys tails and joke to one another.

A beautiful young girl emerged from the water and made their way over to the boys who were making fun of Lo'ak and Neteyam. She slapped their hands.

"Ao'nung, Roxto!" Tsireya yelled.

Lo'ak turned to the girl and greeted her, Tsireya blushed and turned her head with a smile. Za'nara rolled her eyes.

Riding in on a Skimwing, the clan leader Toniwari rode in to the shore and greeted Jake.

"I see you." They greeted.

The all gestured their hands from their head to Toniwari.

A few moments later, Toniwari's wife Ronal, the Tsahik of the Metkayina, walked along the shore to meet the newcomers.

"I see you Ronal." Neytiri and Jake greeted.

Ronal looked around in confusion.

"Why do you come to us?" Toniwari questioned.

"We seek uturu." Jake announced.

"Uturu." Ronal repeated.

"Sanctuary for my family." Jake replied.

Conversation went on for a while, Ronal questioned their morals and walked around the kids, announcing to the clan they had demon blood whilst making jokes about the length of their arms and the strength of their tails. The clan hissed. Neytiri snarled at Ronal after she made a comment about Eywa turning her back on them, Ronal snarled back at her. Jake stood up for his family and explained his reasoning. After discussion, Toniwari decided that he would allow them to stay.

"They will be like babies, taking their first breath." Toniwari announced to the clan. "Teach them our ways so they don't suffer the shame of being useless."

They all thanked Toniwari.

Ronal walked over to Za'nara and stared her blank in the face.

"I noticed this girl has different markings to you Jake." Ronal announced.

"She's not blood." Jake replied. "Her family died in a war so we took her under our wing."

Ronal nodded her head and walked back over next to her husband.

"My son Ao'nung and my daughter Tsireya, will teach your children our ways." Toniwari announced.

"Father wh-" Ao'nung questioned before getting cut off by his father.

"It is decided." Toniwari spoke firmly.

Tsireya walked over to Neteyam and Lo'ak.

"I will show you our village." She told them pulling their hands in the direction she was going.

Za'nara rolled her eyes once again.

"Desperate." Za'nara whispered under her breath.

Tuk giggled after hearing her comment. Za'nara smiled at her and Tuk grabbed her hand and tugged her along with her.

The family settled down in their new hut. Jake called a family meeting and they all went and sat down in the hut.

"Family meeting!" Neteyam yelled pulling Lo'aks arm down.

Jake sat down and explained to the kids that they must be on their best behaviour and will learn quickly and not cause trouble.

"Za'nara, you will need to act friendly with everyone, that means getting along with all of us. I know you hate us right now, but you don't have a choice." Jake explained.

"Yeah okay, I got it." Za'nara replied in annoyed tone.

"I want to go home." Tuk cried out.

"Oh tuk."

"Tuk, this is our home now." Jake explained holding Tuk's hand.

"What does your father always say?" Neytiri asked her kids.

"Sullys stick together." They all whispered.

"That's right, this time with some more feeling."

"Sullys stick together." They all said louder, except from Za'nara.

"I'm getting some fresh air." Za'nara told them before getting up and walking out of the hut.

She walked along the shore, taking in the scenery when she bumped into the eldest son of the clan leader. Ao'nung.

"Woah I'm sorry." Za'nara said after falling into Ao'nung.

"No that's okay, that was my fault." Ao'nung replied.

"It's Ao'nung, right?" Za'nara asked.

"Yes, what's your name?" Ao'nung replied.

"Za'nara." Za'nara replied.

Ao'nung smiled.

"It's nice to meet you Za'nara." Ao'nung smiled.

"You too." Za'nara replied.

Za'nara began to walk back down the shore.

"I'll see you later?" Ao'nung yelled.

"You will!" Za'nara yelled back.
