It was School Day, a weekly routine where I learned various skills from the gems. Andesine taught me combat techniques, and Spinel delved into gem culture and my gem abilities, while
Perry covered subjects ranging from reading and writing gem language to mathematics and technology. At the end of each session, we'd choose an activity, usually suggested by one of us.
During one such session, as Spinel was discussing her desire to visit another museum, the communication box linking me to Steven suddenly glowed black. Was he warping me right now?
I swiftly lifted the box and instructed all the gems to place a hand on it. Without hesitation, they complied, and in an instant, we were all warped to wherever Steven was.

"You're telling me that you used something I told you to only use in an emergency, an item that anyone would try to steal if they had a chance, an item that is a Homeworld treasure to warp me here because YOUR FRIENDSHIP WITH CONNIE IS AT STAKE!" I glared at Steven, my frustration bubbling up, but Spinel quickly extended her arm to calm me down.
"My Y/N, this isn't the way to go about this," Spinel intervened calmly, her voice soothing.
I sighed heavily and took a seat, trying to collect my thoughts.
"Alright, so Connie told her parents that she was hanging out with you and your cousin, aka me. Because of this, her mother wants to have dinner with not only BOTH your parents but also mine?" I asked, trying to clarify the situation.
Steven nodded solemnly, realizing the gravity of the predicament.
"Steven... I don't have a mom," I admitted quietly, feeling a pang of sadness.
"Oh, well then you can go with your dad, and have one of the gems pose as your mom," Steven suggested optimistically.
"Steven... I don't have a dad either," I confessed, feeling a bit vulnerable. The gems nodded in understanding, their expressions sympathetic.
"Steven, I'll bring Perry as my dad and Andesine as my mom. Sorry, Spinel, but you calling me 'My Y/N' might startle them," I explained, grateful for their support.
Spinel and Steven both nodded in understanding.
"Actually, I have an idea. A way I can bring all of you. Perry will be my dad, Andesine will be my mom, and Spinel will be my butler, since you act like one," I suggested with a faint smile, trying to lighten the mood.
"It would be an honor, My Y/N," Spinel replied cheerfully, her enthusiasm infectious.
"Now, Steven, which one of the gems will be your mother?" I asked, turning to face him as he paced back and forth in the kitchen.
"How am I supposed to choose just one of you to bring to dinner? You're all so... cool!" Steven exclaimed, clearly torn between the gems.
Pearl, visibly disgusted, interjected, "Why does it have to be dinner? We get all the energy we need from our gems, and while our human constructs are capable of eating, I find it very uncomfortable."
"I love eating!" Amethyst chuckled between bites of chips, making a mess and dropping some on Garnet's shoulder, which she promptly brushed off.
"Okay, okay, okay. Let's focus. Which of you would make the best and most nuclear mom? Garnet, you keep us safe by scaring off the bad guys, just like a mom would. ...But you're not the best conversationalist," Steven pondered aloud.
