The argument raged for hours. Jasper was unyielding, her defiance as sharp as ever. But even she couldn’t sustain the battle forever. Eventually, her resolve cracked, and in that brief moment of weakness, she was poofed, her form collapsing into her gemstone.
The room fell into an uneasy silence. The decision came quickly—Jasper was too dangerous as she was. Once she reformed, she would be rejuvenated. Spinel, cheerful yet unwavering, declared it was “The Diamond thing to do.” No one disagreed.
With the matter settled, Y/N excused themselves and returned to their quarters.
Inside their room, the silence felt heavier.
Change? The idea seemed unnecessary. Y/N had everything they needed: the moon base, the stars, and Spinel’s unwavering loyalty. Sure, their family was fractured and their life had become something unrecognizable, but everything important remained the same. Didn’t it?
"My Diamond, you're fluctuating again."
Spinel’s voice broke the quiet. Y/N glanced at themselves, seeing the faint black glow around them waver like a dying flame. With a frustrated sigh, they steadied it, forcing the glow to strengthen, its color deepening into the black of space.
Living on the moon wasn’t what they had imagined. The vast emptiness offered no comfort, only a constant reminder of how isolated they were. There was no life, no joy, no connection—only Spinel, always there, always watching, always ready to serve.
Even the rare moments of happiness were fleeting. Dreams turned to nightmares, and the faintest glimmers of hope gave way to guilt and regret. Eventually, the monotony became too much. Y/N decided to train.
Spinel had been eager for this. Training, she said, would help Y/N unlock their potential. But Y/N had a different reason.
They didn’t know who they were anymore.
Memories of the other Diamonds, the worlds they’d conquered, and the expectations placed on them were clear. But anything personal—their family, their origins, even Pink Diamond—was hidden. Locked away. Their powers, too, felt distant, like a language they’d forgotten how to speak.
Still, one thing was clear.
On Earth, they could sense something. It wasn’t like the corrupted gem auras scattered across the planet. This energy was familiar, warm, and untainted.
It reminded them of something—or someone.
A hybrid.
Steven.
That name lingered in their mind like a spark in the dark. It stirred something within them, something they didn’t fully understand.
Sorry this is short. We will have about 2 or 3 parts until we move into the final chapter! The final chapter will have about 6 or 7 parts.
