Many, if not thousands, of years ago, there lived a diamond.
Her name was Rainbow Diamond.
Rainbow Diamond discovered a way to create gems, assigning each a specific role to maintain order.
However, she soon found herself overwhelmed by the sheer number of gems and the amount of work they had to do as a diamond. To address this, she used large portions of her power to create five huge injectors, each designed to form a new diamond. She intended for them to form in the following order: Black, White Red, Yellow, and Blue. However, things did not go as planned.
White formed first, followed by Yellow, and then Blue. Yet, there was no sign of Black or Red forming anytime soon.
Desperate for answers, Rainbow Diamond created a special gem called a sapphire, a gem that could peer into the future. The results were unfavorable.
"These Diamonds' futures and yours intertwine. These Diamonds cannot form with the little energy they have. The only way for them to form is for a more powerful creature to give them their energy. And given the original order you had planned, the only being stronger than both Black and Red Diamond is... you."
Sleepless nights led to a solemn realization: to ensure her creations and her newfound family survived, Rainbow Diamond would do anything.
With a heavy heart, she convened a gathering in the grand hall. Standing before her subjects, she spoke with a regal but somber tone.
"My beloved people of Homeworld, I stand before you not just as your Diamond but as one among you. Our species faces a dire threat, and despite our collective efforts, the birth of the new diamonds and the future of this kingdom will only continue if I offer my life as a sacrifice. May my sacrifice be the beacon that lifts the shadows from our planet and grants you a chance at a brighter future. Let this be the foundation of this new world!"
A stunned silence filled this world as her words sank in. The other diamonds tried to defy her, but she remained resolute.
In the quiet solitude of her chambers, Rainbow Diamond prepared for her final moments. She wrote letters to her loved ones, leaving behind words of comfort and encouragement. As she reformed into a gown filled with the colors of the diamonds and the diamonds to come, the weight of her sacrifice pressed upon her.
"To think, two gems made more of my power than all the rest almost like..." Her voice cuts off for a moment yet her eyes say it all. A CHILD. "My very own child... That's a nice thought." Rainbow smiled for a moment then checked to make sure no one was listening to her mindless muttering, she then roamed the halls making her way to the stage for the very last time.
In the courtyard, a circle formed by the other Diamonds encased the multi-colored gem, now veiled. Rainbow Diamond lifts her head, offering herself to the other diamonds that would now govern their world. Rainbow Diamond raises her hand to her gem as it begins to glow. The rest of the diamonds followed. A large beam of light charges toward the diamond and in her last moments you can see her mouth form into a small smile.
As her life force left and her gem lost its color, a radiant rainbow light enveloped the sky, breaking the hearts of not only all the diamonds but all of Homeworld.
Homeworld would have grieved for hours if not for a bright black beam shooting across the sky and leading to a large cracking planet. The diamonds looked up, tears staining their faces."Get the ship ready," one of them commanded.
