he vibrant hues of the Warp Pad dim as my best friend rides on my shoulders, and we step off onto solid ground. With purpose, I stride towards the house, bursting through the door and shouting for everyone to assemble.

"Let me clarify, you want to remove one of your gems and give it to Theia?" I nod, and Perry sighs deeply. "It could work, but Theia would need something of yours, something important enough for the gem to recognize it as you."

"My kidney perhaps?" Perry shakes her head, and suddenly it hits me.

"My heart..."

"If... if we want this to succeed, then yes."

"HOW DARE YOU SUGGEST SUCH A RISKY IDEA FOR MY Y/N!" Spinel screams.

I turn towards Spinel and glare in hopes of making her quirt so i can listen to Perry better. Her shocked expression makes my stomach churn... did I just scare her? Shaking off the thought, I refocus on Perry.

"A heart transplant is rarely straightforward."

"With the technology I've salvaged from Homeworld, I believe we can do it." She dashes off to grab pen and paper, returning swiftly. "Here's the plan: First, we'll prepare for the heart transplant. Once transferred, your gems will enter overdrive to heal you, which may cause them to conflict with each other 86% of the time. While the gems are in healing mode, we'll remove the pearl and transfer it to Theia. The pearl will recognize your heart and initiate healing. Your remaining gem will use light to generate a new heart and form, expelling all your human parts."

I stare at Perry in shock. Had she already devised this plan?

"But in order to remove the organic parts of you, the gem will burn your insides, and blood will burst out of your body from everywhere. Your skin, eyes, hair, and everything else on the outside will feel like it's burning off. Moreover, there's no guarantee it will work, and the pearl might shatter upon removal. The extraction of a gem from an organic body has never been attempted before," Andesine explained, surprising me with her astute and oddly compassionate assessment.

I take a deep breath. Theia would have done the same for me...

"Let's remove the light switch."

"A light switch?" Perry questioned, seeking clarification.

After months went by slowly but surely the pearl had expected Theia as its new hybrid host. Although this didn't mean they were threw the ringer. Theia had yet to wake up, Steven got home traumatized and only visited once because the state of theia and y/n only made him feel worse about the whole thing.

Y/n however had it the worst of the worst. There skin was slowly melting away causing huge holes on her skin where her organs would worm there way out, like bugs eating away at things. Her jaw was completely detached o lying hanging on by threads of skin attacked to her head. Her body was radiating head from the new found light begins used as skin. This new skin was somehow going deeper in color, even deeper than either of her mothers skin tone. Her hair however, lighted up. Become a soft shade of grey.
