Chapter 45. Haru's resolve

Haru and Bandages the Mummy stood at opposite ends, glaring at each other. The mummy observed Haru's posture, trying to find an opening.

Haru stood still and kept his posture, not moving a muscle. The mummy just grinned and started to laugh, confusing the audience.

Bulma: What's that creep laughing about now?

She asked worriedly as the tension grew. They all watched in silence.

Bandages: So, little whelp. Think you can beat me?

He asked, cackling at Haru, who did not budge. He clearly found the whole situation amusing.

Bandages: Pain and suffering are all that await you!

Haru: Since you're so eager to begin, you may have the first move.

Haru confidently stated, but the same couldn't be said for the audience.

Yamcha: This is bad.... Haru seems calm, too calm to my liking. If that mummy gets his hands on him....

Krillin: You need to relax, Yamcha. You seem to be underestimating Haru.

Bulma: What's up with that creep anyway. Why's he just stood there?

Bulma asked, drawing the others' attention to the mummy who got in his fighting stance, staring at Haru.

Master Roshi: He's deciding the best way to attack Haru.

Yamcha: Mmhm. And if he does, it's over!

Krillin, Bulma, Puar, and Upa whimpered, hearing what Yamcha just said.

Goku: Don't worry, you guys, Haru's got this!

Krillin: Y-Yeah... he's got incredible speed and power.

Krillin nervously added like he was trying to convince himself to trust in Haru.

Master Roshi: That will not be enough. As you just learned, the mummy's speed is almost impossible to overcome. And that's only a minor obstacle compared to the creature's biggest advantage... His immortality.

Bulma & Yamcha: What?!

They said simultaneously in complete disbelief.

Master Roshi: He is an abomination brought back to life from the ancient dead.

Yamcha: What are you talking about? Is that possible?

Yamcha asked, puzzled. The old hermit just nodded, answering his question for him.

Master Roshi: Long ago, the dead were wrapped in bandages and mummified so the body could live once more.

Bulma: He's dead? I thought he was a slob with poor fashion sense and bad skin.

Master Roshi: Mm-hm! He's a slob, dead thousands of years!

Bulma: Thousands?!

She asked, shaking with fear as she turned to the battlefield.

Krillin: So if he's already dead, there's not a lot Haru can do?

Master Roshi: Exactly.

Baba: That's enough! Didn't you guys hear me? I said you may begin! What are you waiting for?!

She yelled at the fighters, making the Mummy grin.

Bandages: With pleasure!

Bandages ran at Haru, closing down the distance between them. He swung his fist at Haru once he got close enough.

Haru saw the attack forthcoming. He jumped back once the mummy swung his fist at him. Haru did a roundhouse kick, kicking the mummy on the side, making him chuckle.
