Chapter 1: New Tang

I've warned you bago simulan ang story na 'to sa disclaimer pa lang pero uulitin ko pa rin na this is and will never be the perfect book you'll encounter. I know there are lot of theme like this pero hindi ako nakikipagkompetensya sa kanila kaya ayokong makakakita ng kahit na anong comparison ng story ko sa ibang stories o authors. "And the winner is... the undefeated kamikaze!"

Loud cheers coming from the crowd erupted after announcing the name of the person that almost everyone was rooting for as the winner yet again, making my veins throb vigorously than it usually were.

Nang iangat na ng referee ang kaliwang kamay ko ay nadagdagan lamang ang dagundong sa buong arena. As a matter of fact, Kamikaze is just my epithet, another term for daredevil.

I wandered my eyes around to look for my closest comrade here in the underground, Baxter and Klea. Those two were my batchmates at iisa ang dahilan kung bakit kami napadpad dito kaya mabilis kaming nagkasundo. It's not about the superiority or money, it's about the contentment we're getting after winning in this battleground. Underground fight is surely illegal pero sa tuwing nandito ako ay nagiging malaya ako. Sabi nga nila masarap ang bawal.

Napangiti na lang ako sa likod ng maskarang suot ko nang makita ang dalawa na nakangiti na sa direksyon ko.

Baxter abruptly entered the arena with two other bouncers working here in Dark Lotus. Tinulungan nila akong makalabas ng stage papunta sa VIP room na nakatalaga para sa'kin.

"What an another great fight, Vaughn. Wala ka talagang kakupas-kupas, no wonder kaya ikaw ang naging hidden ace rito" Baxter commented, turning on the knob of my room.

Although, I've mentioned na magkakabatch kaming tatlo ay hindi maipagkakailang may pagkakaiba rin kami. Baxter and I share the same age pero hindi kagaya ko ay overachiever ang isang 'to. He excels in every damn thing and I kinda want to have a life like him. Meanwhile, our other friend, Klea, is the oldest among us pero isa pa rin sa mga bata rito and this friend of mine is kind of obscure. Obscure in a way na masyado siyang malihim which I do understand naman but the thing is may mga araw na ang hirap niyang basahin.

As he completely opened the door, I promptly settled myself on the chesterfield at doon ipinahinga ang hapong katawan. Hinubad ko na rin ang maskarang kanina ko pa suot at ipinikit ang mga mata. I'm using this mask to conceal my face from everyone. Isa kase sa rules dito sa Dark Lotus ay bawal magpakita ng mukha sa audience kaya kami-kaming mga fighter lang din ang nakakaalam ng itsura ng isa't isa.

I've been doing underground fight for three years now at kahit isang beses ay hindi pa ako natatalo. I almost got my first lose nung minsang may mandaya na gumamit ng brass knuckles at muntikan ko pa yung ikamatay.

Victory is something I've never experienced outside the ring. Being a Constello is just so complicated, kung baga kailangan mo munang patunayan ang sarili mo para maging belong ka sa pamilya and I hate my whole clan for that.

"I'm not that good though. Baka sadyang kulang lang sila sa practice" sagot ko habang nanatiling nakapikit. My muscles hurt like hell, mukhang mahaba-habang pahinga nanaman ang kailangan ko nito.

"Oh c'mon. Minsan ipagmayabang mo naman 'yang galing mo. Why don't you join legal fight? Malay mo roon ka talaga nakalinya?" may bahid ng pangungumbinsi niyang saad.
