Anika's eyelids felt heavy, as if someone had outlined them with iron. Her head hurt as she again attempted to part her eyelids and allow light to enter her eyes. Anika's body stirred as she managed to slightly part her eyelids.

Shivaay opened his eyes with ease as he sensed the movement beside him. His senses suddenly became alert as his eyes landed on his wife. He quickly sat up, his eyes landing on his hand, which was on top of hers.

Anika looked beside her with difficulty. She felt weak, as if she had walked miles and her bones and turned into jelly.

"Anika," Shivaay whispered as he saw her trying to open her eyes completely. He placed a hand on her cheek, making her skin tensed. Anika parted her eyelids fully, causing her champagne optics to become visible. Shivaay's heart clenched as he saw those eyes.

Those eyes, with which he was in love with, irrevocably.

Shivaay let her hand go, now cupping her face. He mumbled her name again, like he was chanting a sacred prayer. It was as if something was switched on in Anika. There was a sudden glint in her dull, almost closed eyes.

"Shivaay?" Anika muttered, almost as if questioning if he was really there. Shivaay leaned his forehead against hers, as he let out a strangled breath. Anika smiled softly, breathing in the same air as him.

"Hume toh Aapko kho hi diya tha, Anika," (I had almost lost you)

"Humne bhi," (So had I)

Shivaay sighed inwardly, not moving away from her. He sneaked his hand southwards, towards her neck. He kept his hand there, causing Anika to shiver slightly. Her neck felt warm, his mouth itched to be there instead of his palm.

"Anika." Shivaay whispered again. Anika's heart beat faster whenever he took her name like that. It felt like a distant call. As if she was water and he was a lone traveller in the Sahara desert.

Anika was still lying on the bed, while her husband was in a sitting position right beside her.

"Hume toh aesa lagne laga tha, ke hum dono ek hikaayat banke hi reh jayenge," (I had started to feel like, we would become a mere tale)

"Jo hikaayat ban jaatein hai, unhe koyi mita nehi pata." (None can destroy those, who turn into tales)

"Jo bhi aapko harj pohuchane ki koshish karega, hum usse hi mita denge," (I will destroy whoever tries to cause harm to you)

Anika opened her eyes, an involuntary crimson hue forming on her cheeks, feeling him being that close to her. Her chest hurt like anything, yet his touch felt like a soothing balm on her body. That warmth felt like a soothing covering on her bruises.
