Shivaay's breath hitched as he came to a standstill

Shivaay's breath hitched as he came to a standstill. It was as if his whole world had suddenly stopped: the earth was not rotating on its axis, the swords had stopped their movement, the soil particles in the air had turned their bouncing molecules into solids.

His hand dropped, causing the whip to smack the innocent ground, which was now tainted with blood. Junaid laid lifeless on the soil, his eyes bulging out. Scarlet cuts and bruises decorated his face and body.

Life had bid him an adieu.

The war continued, the departure of their king ignited fear among the opposition's army. The fear settled as spirits weakened.

They knew, this was a losing battle.

It was as if he was possessed, Shivaay ran towards his wife. Madness performed a pirouette in his eyes, which had now ascended to the colour of the ocean. He didn't know what he was doing. It was as if his legs had a separate mind of their own as they moved on their own accord.

For him, the most important part of him had been now bruised,

his aan, baan and shaan.

The soldier from Singhall, who had attempted to protect the King of Mewar, looked gobsmacked. Guilt blossomed in his heart seeing Anika fall on to her knees, as they buckled unable to support her anymore due to the excruciating pain caused by the arrow which had struck her chest.

Pain shot through her body, but as she connected eyes with her husband, her heart clenched dangerously in her chest. The eyes which she loved to stare at, were now frantic. A painful, almost invisible smile made its way to her face which was now dirtied with soil and blood.

If she had to offer herself to death,

for the only person she had grown to love,

she would,

a hundred times over.

Gayatri chanted all the verses she knew, as she prayed to Goddess Bhavani. She was not concerned about anyone, but Anika. A few tears escaped her eyes as she begged for the well being of Anika.

She sent a prayer heavenwards, in hope.

She shut her eyes as flashes from the past clouded her brain.

That night, before Avanti's wedding, Gayatri had done something. Something, a part of her told, was not right, but she had done it, for Anika.

That night, when she was sitting near the fountain, she heard a noise. The chiming of the same anklets, which the unmarried princesses of Singhall wore. Suspicion and worry made it's way to her mind, causing her to stand up. She had been dubious, doubting the person to be Anika.
