I walked up to Leah's room, and gave it a knock. She opened the door, her eyes puffy and her cheeks faintly wet.
"Come talk to me Leah, what's up?"Leah led me over to her bed, before collapsing into tears. I've never seen her in such a vulnerable state before.
"I am so sorry Abby." She said, in between tears. I didn't realise it had hurt her, as well as me, this much.
"I didn't want it to get this far. I didn't think it would. I never had the intentions of hurting you. Ever."
I put my arm around her shoulder, pulling her into my chest.
"It's okay Lee, I knew you didn't. We just can't carry on like this though. It's not good for either of us."
Leah looked up from beneath me, the tears had stopped falling from her eyes but her cheeks and neck were wet. I used my thumb to try and get rid of them the best I could.
"Is your injury okay? Are you out for long?" Leah said. By the look on her face, she was nervous for the answer.
"It's a very short term injury, nothing major at all. I'll be back in time for the opening game. See, you didn't do too much damage did you?" I said while giggling. This made her giggle too.
I held out my hand, for Leah to hold. She looked at me first, almost scared to take it. I just nodded at her. Her hand made her way into mine, her fingers curled round mine.
"To putting the past behind us yes?" I said. Leah smiled at me. It was the most genuine smile I've seen on her face in a while.
"To putting the past behind us." Leah repeated.
We sat there for a while until we were interrupted by Georgia running into the room.
"LEAH, are you alive?"
Leah shot up, like she was guilty for someone seeing us together like this.
Georgia looked at me, then at Leah.
"What's going on here?" She said, a small smile appeared on her lips. "Did you finally ask her Leah?"
I turned and looked at the nervous girl sat beside me.
"Ask me what Leah?" I turned and looked at Georgia, who was getting a rather scary look glared at her from Leah. "We just made up, put all the past behind us, didn't we Lee?"
"Yes we did." A mumbled sentence left Leah's mouth.
We walked down to dinner together, Leah still acting rather quiet. Georgia was treading on eggshells around Leah too, scared to say the wrong thing. It was a weird vibe to be honest.
I went and sat beside Ella, Alessia, Millie, Rachael, Beth and Jordan. As soon as I sat down, Ella began whispering to me.
"Well? Did yous two sort everything?"
I whispered back, not wanting Jordan to hear it yet.
"I'll talk to you later about it. It's complicated."
*Leah's POV*
I can't believe G ruined things like that. If only she kept her mouth closed, then things might've worked out differently. Everyone around me could tell I wasn't myself. How was I supposed to explain why though? It looked so bad. Abby took me away from Jordan, Jordan dumped me, went to Abby, and know I wanted Abby? Talk about a love triangle.
G snapped me out of my thoughts for a brief moment.
"What you thinking about Leah? You know I didn't mean to ruin things like that. Just the way yous we're lying up seemed like you told her."
"I know G you're not to blame about this. I should've just told her."
G looked up at me, a compassionate look on her face.
"Give her time, build up your friendship first then see where things go. Don't rush into it."
I just looked over at Abby. She looked so happy, sitting laughing. But with Jordan. She was happy with Jordan. That's what made me feel even worse about everything. Someone who once was my Jordan has now taken away my Abby. The one I should've had from the start.
*Back to Abby POV*
Ella pulled me outside onto the same bench once again.
"So, walk me through what happened slowly. Take your time."
As I explained through everything, Ella's facial expressions kept making me laugh.
"Oi what's so funny that you're thinking of?" Ella said, thinking I was missing something out.
"Nothing it's just your expressions. You can't hide your opinions."
Ella and I laughed about it together. It's true, she could never keep a straight face. That's how people knew about our dad dying. Not that we weren't going to tell anyone, but that Ella couldn't keep it in. I don't blame her obviously, she was the oldest and trying to handle such an unfamiliar situation.
As I carried on, I got to the hardest part of the interaction to explain.
"So then Georgia walked in and said 'Did you finally ask her Leah?' She got so quiet after that and Georgia did too. What do you think that means Ell. I don't understand."
Ella looked at me, for the first time in maybe forever, with a blanked expression.
"What do you think that means Abby? It's not that hard, don't over think it."
I knew exactly what she meant. I just needed confirmation. To be honest, I'd rather not have known so it didn't come between me and Jordan but of course it did. It always does.
"Maybe she just wants to me friends."
Ella burst out laughing.
"Don't you dare play dumb with me. We both know she wanted to rekindle things. She obviously likes you a lot."
"But I don't want her to like me. I just want time to freeze for a few minutes to get my head around everything. So much has happened so quickly. I don't like it Ella. I hate change."
Ella pulled me in for a hug.
"I know you hate change Abs. I know you do. Everything will sort itself out, but you just have to give it time, yes?"
"Yes."
