Abby had stuck with me to go read more about portals in the library. The place was huge and the ceiling rose far up high. There were dark tables carved to look like dragons and lions were holding them up. A huge window overlooked into the woods, but it was high enough where you could not see the ground. I walked to a table while Abby wandered around the shelves able to read all of the books. Their language verbally was the same however it seemed that the writing was it's own thing.

Abby walked back with a stack of books and set them down across from me where she chose to sit. She looked through pages of books while I busied myself with watching the sunset or admiring the books.

"Do you read back home?" she asked.

"I do and I write to along with every form of art I like to escape" I said.

"I read to and leave, that's why I spied on the palace because I wanted out of the royal life" she said as stopped on a page.

"Anything helpful?" I asked.

"Just clear the mind and feel for it stuff nothing truly helpful" She said turning the page.

"If it was that easy I'd have done it twenty times" I said.

"Here it says that when you do it there's a chance for death and or lack of powers for a few days" she said.

"That sounds truly magical I can't wait" I said sarcastically.

I rubbed my hands over my face in exhaustion and stress. How could I open a portal to another realm. My home. At least I knew what Paris looked like.

After an hour or so Abby kicked me out to go sleep. She said she'd grab Sam to help her out. I walked back to our room. Achelios was in there cleaning off his knives. He had about ten of them out on the bed.

"Cyra, about the other night" he said quickly putting his knife down.

I looked at him startled by his suddenness. I also had no idea what to expect from him. Was he sorry? Was he sad? Was he thrilled by my basic turn down?

"Little dove, I don't think I could feel this way for anyone else, it's like fire that consumes me, I can't get you out of my head, please let me be yours if you feel the same" he said.

I felt my body stiffen and heat up. My heart was pounding with nervousness.

"I think maybe I have only ever been yours" I said feeling instantly stupid over my word choice.

Before I could criticize myself more he was there holding me in his arms. His lips touched mine gently until I kissed him back. His lips were soft against mine despite our weeks of travel and the lack of chap stick in the entire world. I felt his hands gliding over my rolls, the heat going through the fabric. I touched his shoulders and then his hair. It was soft and damp from a bath earlier. He smelled like lavender from the stuff the maids put in the water. I kept my lips against his taking in the moment. Not a worry filled my mind. Not a worry at all. Only him and the way he felt touching me.

He pressed me backwards until the wall hit my spine. It only made me want more of him. His lips pulled away and his blue eyes looked at me as he panted. I looked at him seeing him as he was. To most of this world he was a monster, but to me he was just Achelios.

I slept more easily then I assumed I would. From the stress of building a portal to Achelios. I wondered what we were. Well we were married regardless, but maybe now we were more happily married.

The five of us stood in the big library. I glanced at them all packed up with bags slung over shoulders and giant blades stowed away. Achelios gave me a small nod and smile of encouragement.

I felt for my powers and waved them trying to feel for the sensation. I imagined home. I also tried to imagine Paris more. I felt an uncomfortable sensation through my body. I reached for it inside my brain and my body. Purple swirls filled the air and they stopped a few paces in front of me. The sparks moved and revealed Paris for a second before it shut.

I tried again and this time I kept holding it up. I saw the Eiffel Tower right there and the sun was out in midday. I kept it open and charged for the opening. I landed on pavement with yellow and white lines. I wanted to scream in happiness that I was home. I turned back only to find I was alone and about to be hit by a car. Someone pulled me out of the road. The guy driving started whining about me being in the road. Nobody seemed to notice a portal being opened in the middle of the road.

"Well I guess it's made for limited travelers" I looked up seeing it was Achelios.

"What did you expect? I've never made a portal before" I said.

He chuckled which could've stopped my heart. It was a lovely sound that I had not heard much of. I wanted to hear it more.

"Lets go try to find someone who speaks english that can show us where it is" I said walked towards a shop.

"You mean nobody speaks that in this place?" he asked.

"They speak french and those things are cars that tried to run me over like carriages without  horses" I said.

"And those things in everyones hands?" he asked.

"Cell phones people play games and message people and they get it within seconds, they also call people when they are long distances" I said.

"Woah whatever all that means" he said as we opened a door.

The store was filled with soups and other body supplies. There was a black lady at the back who had grey hair. She was busy looking at something on her phone.

"Excuse me?" I asked.

"Hello miss, can I help you?" she asked with an accent.

"Uh ya actually I am looking for an address my phones dead and his just broke" I said pulling out a paper with it.

She looked at it for a moment and tapped it into her phone. It was only a few streets down on her google maps.

"Thank you" I said.

"You're welcome" she said.

I felt the weight of using my powers. We had no money or no phones. We'd have to camp out in an alleyway. We stopped at the edge of an old looking house. It was a few flours tall and had huge windows. One floor had plants all over the place and the second had dolls on the windowsills. The third one had curtains pulled tightly over.

I wanted to just crumble, but we kept moving. He climbed the fire escape first and I followed. The metal was cold and cool to my finger tips. I felt the sword then. I could feel its energy hitting me. I climbed faster towards my blade. It seemed to be calling out to me. At the top we stopped and lookded through the window. It seemed empty and quiet.

I grabbed the window and it opened which made Achelios eyes light up. A fowl scent filled my senses.  I went through it first and expected something to happen, but nothing did. I followed the feeling of my sword. It led me to the hallway to the farthest bedroom. Inside I found a dead man. In his hands was my sword. I ran for it and snatched it up.

I heard something click and before I could move a net of all things shot out at me. I tumbled onto the dead man feeling his blood and his scent making me almost vomit. I tried to roll to get the net off, but it seemed stuck on me. I reached for my knife and started to cut. It took more effort then I enjoyed.
