Seeing her after the battle made me hurt in a way I could not explain. Her skin was grey and her hair seemed more dull to. Her wrists and arms were coated in black veins. I knew what he had done to her. He tried to turn her into a shadow.

"I sent the others for your brother" I told her.

I could not let go of her hand as I started to race with her down the hall. The war would be won another day when she was okay. As we stopped at the door a wall of shadows stopped us and I turned to see General Cameron and a few of his shadow men.

"Do not steal what is mine" he said his voice was like death.

Cyra pulled her sword out ready to go down with a fight and I did the same. Despite how dead she looked I could see pure burning fire in her eyes.

"As you wish" he said before he waved his hands and his shadow men came at us.

I sliced one and it shriveled away just as another slammed me onto the ground. I flung my sword chopping at them. I saw flashes of Cyra's sword as she slammed her blade into one by one.

The shadows knocked my blade away and hauled me up to my feet. They soon captured Cyra as well unable to touch her sword. I heard Cameron chuckle as he strode over to the two of us.

"I am going to enjoy carving you up next to her" he hissed in front of me.

Then another gleaming blade joined the war. It was Ganders as he slammed a sword at the shadows. He stopped once I was free and we both ran to Cyra and slammed our blades into the other shadows. I turned to thank Ganders and there was a shadow holding him upward and slowly compressing his body and taking all the life from it. It dropped him and he never moved again.

More shadows poured from the halls including wolves, the ghosts, and people taken over. There had to be at least fifty against us two.

The doors slammed open letting in light and four people showed up. It was Abby, Sam, Winston and Cyra's brother. They all had gear on and weapons. We ran at the shadows and started to slice them apart one by one.

"We cover you get to him" Abby said next to me.

We both fought back to back and I saw other blades flying and colorful bombs going off from Winston. Abby pushed me to the edge of the battle and blocked oncoming threats. I ran to the edge to find Cyra already standing in an opening with the general.

At the doors more men poured into the room to fight shadows that seemed to be forming and reforming nonstop.

Cyra waved her hands and I saw the purple light mixed with water, but also shadow. I felt something sink in my chest. Cyra's body was shaking from the use of her powers.  General Cameron raised his hands and the darkness filled the space between them.

I was suddenly tackled by another monster and dragged across the room. I watched its spit dribble to the floor. This one was like a blob it had no shape just a hold for a mouth and two arms with claws.

I reached for my sword and slammed it into the creature, but it just jiggled. It lunged foreword and the hold of a mouth opened so wide it could fit an adult man. I was a perfect fit.

Just as I accepted my sword was useless and I was about to be eaten by a blob, a blade cut it clean in half. There standing behind it as it puffed away was Cyra's brother. He looked as sickly as her. He had her red hair and pale skin, but he was thin and slender. His eyes were also blue. He reached a hand out and I couldn't help but get up on my own ignoring his hand.

More shadows came and we got cornered by them. I watched a man get ripped right in half again. This was getting to be a normal day for me.

I slammed my blade left and right into shadow left and right. I kept trying to reach Cyra, but there were too many. I felt like I was being buried alive by the darkness.

Sam went next to me at some point and he slammed his sword into a wolf as it charged at him. He swung his blade into another dark animal and it exploded. He really had learned a lot since coming here.

I turned away as more darkness consumed me. Left and right we kept fighting the shadows and left and right more men died. I tried to help Cyra since it had been eerily dim in that direction. I plowed past shadow by shadow shoving through.
