When Cyra had walked into the portal Achelios had jumped and grabbed hold of her. We'd all seen it closing as she stepped through. Now we waited hoping they would return soon. I worried about Cyra and the mission.
During that time I spent time with Abby learning about the kingdom and the values they had. I enjoyed learning about the world and how it worked. She seemed so passionate about it as well.

It was the evening of day two since they left. I walked to Abby's room and she opened the door and pulled me inside by the collar of my shirt and started to kiss me. She was all rough edges and bold actions. We kissed each other my hands feeling every muscle she had. Her body was like a boulder and something soft as well.
Suddenly the window shattered and glass rained down. A shadow wolf jumped through the opening. Abby threw a knife, but the creature seemed to not feel as it embedded its skin. The knife started to bubble and melt before it fell to the floor the blade completely gone.
I grabbed her and started running out the door. We ran down the hallway as I fiddled for a knife. Not that those seemed to help, it just made me feel better.
The halls were empty thankfully and we ran into the library where the wolf growled and pounded on the door. I held my knife and looked at the gold blade. I wondered if it was really all gold or just a metal like gold.
I didn't have much time to admire the blade though, the wolf was making the wood door bend and crack. Then it crashed onto the floor with a puff of dust. The wolf charged for Abby and rammed into her and made her crash into a table that didn't even budge with her weight. She was laying there unconscious and the wolf walked towards her.
"Hey ugly dog come here mutt" I yelled which made the thing pause and look at me.
It seemed to debate for a moment before it jumped at me. I slashed my knife at it and it howled in pain. Where the blade made contact yellow light was coming out of the wolf. It charged at me and bit into my arm which made me scream. I stabbed into the wolf with my knife and it let go. I stabbed it into the wolf's neck and it crumpled into nothing.
I dared to look at my arm and where it bit me my flesh had burned away. Blood and black goo were coming out. I instantly felt a wave of dizziness from the wound or my own loss of blood. I didn't know. I also thought I might've been screaming for Abby.
Eventually she popped up and brought me to a table. She seemed to struggle to lift me, but not because of my weight, my height. Once I was laying down she was wrapping cloth around my arm. She was yelling, but my senses were mostly gone. I was in too much panic to think about anything. Then I passed out.
* * *
I woke up some time later the sun was out. I shivered despite it's warmth. My arm was wrapped up in a thick bundle of cloth. I could see my skin was pale which meant I was not out of this yet. As if on cue I started to feel the burning pain of my arm. I groaned and wiggled around the pain too much. I sat up only to find a dizzy spell. I was still on the table in the library.
"Sam! please sit back your wound is not stopping it's" Abby began but stopped.
Abby looked exhausted which meant I'd been out for hours. I wondered if it had been days yet.
"We are waiting for Cyra, with her powers we think she can extract the dark goo" she said.
A fatal wound from the wolf. It was like an uncurable infection I assumed. Like a zombie bite. If Cyra came back she'd be too exhausted to heal me though.
After that initial interaction I passed out off and on occasionally drinking water. When I woke up the last time it was dark outside. I couldn't remember much and was feeling a little out of the world.
A whoosh sound followed by a purple glow in the shape of a circle dragged me to my brain. Out stepped Cyra and Achelios both had blood splattered on their faces. They looked like an evil murder couple.
Cyra smiled and then she looked at me and it died off. She ran over to me and looked at my face and my bundled arm. I heard Abby explaining what happened and what she needed Cyra to do. Achelios grumbled something in response.
"No I will do it" Cyra told him.
She unraveled my arm gently making me wince. She made a face of disgust before she started moving her hands just over my wound. I felt less pain instantly. I relaxed my arm and she pulled away stumbling back into Achelios' open arms.
"I am fine" she reassured him.
"They said he only had a few hours left thank goodness you two came when you did" Abby said.
Suddenly I felt perky and sat up. I felt alive again and not like I was on deaths doorway. My arm looked wounded, but no longer sickly. Abby started to wrap up my wound. Cyra looked sick though, her skin had gone a pale grey shade. It was normally pale, but now it was almost grey. She collapsed onto Achelios further and went unconscious.
We walked to her room where Achelios set her down gently. He started to pace around the room. Abby sat next to her feeling her head.
"She's fevering like you did" she said.
"so you think she took his sickness? or is just she's tire out?" Achelios asked his voice laced with anger.
"I don't know she has no dark veins so I don't think she took it from him" Abby said.
"I am right here guys" I said.
"We won't know until we wait for a bit, if she's tired she will pop back up" Abby said.
Had I just killed my friend?
